GREECED LIGHTNING: The Dark Side of the Sun - Thurs 1st October, 7.45pm
Cygnus Bazza
With oh, those Summer Nights rapidly fading into memory, The Rewatch That We Want (it is the one we want, ooh, ooh, ooh) is surely one that whisks us off to warmer climes to bask in a bit of Aegean sunshine and sample some ouzo-based baloney bearing the impeccable imprint of the great Vere Lorrimer.

Yep, all roads lead to Rhodes as, hopelessly devoted to hokum, we embrace the slightly odd thrilly-mystery-supernatural thingy The Dark Side of the Sun, starring Patrick ‘Paddy’ Mower, Peter 'Baddie' Egan, Michael ‘Kleggy’ Sheard and Emily 'Saddy' Richard, who apparently only just missed out on the role of Leela in Doctor Who. And not in the sense that it was the woman next door who got the gig.

Dating from 1983, this series followed in the footsteps of the Beeb’s The Lotus Eaters, Who Pays the Ferryman?, The Aphrodite Inheritance and A Bad Case of Hermes. OK, I made the last one up. Comprising six episodes, it’ll doubtless take an episode to get going but that’ll give us time to find a version with Dutch subtitles.

Plot? No spoilers. I’m not M1, latterly Dark M'ater. Or M’dear as she’ll be known for the duration of our Greek salad days.

This will be interesting. The BBC (think I'm correct in believing these shows were all BBC) had a bit of a thing for the Greek Isles in the '70s. I didn't realise it went on into the '80s.
I may have seen this one. I certainly have seen at least a couple of the others. They're usually packed to the rafters with well-known (back in the day) Brit character actors. Also, actors from the continent including one chap from The Lotus Eaters whose real name and in his looks so closely resembled Travis Mark 1 that I still suspect something funny was going on...but then I am the suspicious type.
I've got chills and they are multiplying... Grin

Nearly time for us to go all Hey Hey Hellenic and engage in a bit of quickfire 'bantz' about Greek bread. Or, as I like to think of it, pitta patter.

It's all downhill from here.

Lots of volcanic stuff around Greece. Not so much space exploration, though.

I have not prewatched the rewatch so I may be more serious tonight...I know M'dea will be thankful. Grin

I think there might be a bit of a plateau, then a chasm, then an abyss.

I guess M'dear will be doing her usual last-minute, flurry-of-dust arrival thing.

I don't think of Greece and volcanoes as going together. Krakatoa or Anak Krakatoa gets all the glam.

M'dea, eh? I'd better revise my sorcery to get in the mood.

Ooh yes there are. And of course, now I think of it the Minoans were done in by a tsunami from a local eruption.

Well, if she is in a devilish mood then it's M'dea.
If she is being whimsical then M'dear. Is that likely?

Thera was active not all that long ago, geologically speaking. And Santorini is definitely brewing something up atm.

Hello everyone. On time for once. I think you have must have meant A Bad Case FOR Hermes, CB - in which our favourite messenger of the gods turns detective when asked by the Queen of Sparta to find out whether the god who raped her disguised as a small dog was Zeus, Poseidon or Apollo. A comedy/mystery classic.
