Rewatch Downunder Saturday 12th September C11 Moloch

This “Give her to your men” thing makes me sick.

One of those guards was ripping the leg off a roast chicken. I don't think I've noticed that before. Or perhaps I'd forgotten.

Oooh green drinks!!!

That Cottee's cordial.

I wasn’t aware you were lacking in imagination. Soma cocktails surely. :-)

It's a bit like Billy Connolly's "What does the Pope drink?" "Creme de Menthe". And then the whole thing about 2 Irishmen in Rome drinking CdM and sicking up diced carrot. Etc. I think of that immediately I see the green.

I remember that one. The man with pockets full of diced carrot who follows drunks around.

Hysterical stuff. Classic Connolly. Possibly from the Policeman's Other Ball.

Fantastic shot of the Liberator hanging in space. Just as good as the new CGI stuff, perhaps better.

Must’ve been a good story.

Yes, do tell, Ms. Virn. Which one was it? Enquiring minds want to know.

Unpublished and unfinished. Follow-up to a ficlet from long ago.

Hi Obsidian.

Hi Tyce. All well in Deepest Belconnen-ville?

Yeah mostly. I have another operation planned for the end of October but that’s so routine I virtually own shares in the hospital. LOL.

How unpleasant for you, but as long as these ops are doing you good. I'm trying to get a few days in Sydney, but house and medical appointments are doing my head in. I can never grab 3 days in a row to access the place I want during retail hours.
Sounds like you’re not doing good on the medical side either. Hope you can work out some free time soon.

Not a lot's changed. Sydney Swan, I'm looking at you.

How can a spaceship have no scanning devices? It makes no sense. Do they pilot it by looking out the front window?

Obsidian
If Tarrant weren't so keen, I'd say cut and run, guys.

Hey did I see AA hovering? How are you going AA?

Isn't it time someone shot Tarrant? Why should he go through the whole thing unscathed?

Morning everyone. I've been watching for a bit while eating breakfast. One thing I didn't notice before was Tarrant asking Avon's opinion about whether they should turn back or not - he's getting acclimatized.

I think it's meant to. That and the offscreen slap Chesil receives, not to mention Doran's crowning comment about not liking women.

Well, the BBC are on a serious budget. LOL

So why did Doran decide to go in that room just then?

Yeah well, if I hear anything more about the F’n Sydney Swans or even football, I’m going to commit murder.

Loving what they've done to Servalan's hair. Looks longer on the top of her head. And very shiny.

Hi AnneA. All well with you?

I think Tarrant, after asking, thinks he can now do ask he likes. Witness, his treatment of Vila. Head Bully.

It's the Federation training kicking in.

The Tuesday bunch characterised this as a 'comedy' episode. Not sure the sexism is as funny as all that. But their claim emphasises just how brilliant the Servalan-Vila bit is.

Yes, but it's not approved as right. Witness (e.g.) Vila's reaction to Doran's comment. It's all meant to show the Fifth Legion are beyond the pale. More Federation rottenness.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing. If it was a magic trick, you'd have to show the second box was empty before you started.

The sexisim is still alive and well and quite typical of our society, now and then. Again, Ben Steed does some really challenging things which are a commentary on society at the time. Now we have the Manosphere.

Servalan isn't the baddie this time. She's quite critical of this nice little boyzone, for operational reasons of course.

I wouldn't mind reading the history of how Col Astrid came up with Moloch - the computer he invented - which, it later turns out, had a live entity - 'human' (or possibly chicken) as its starting point.

One of mine died in all the rains last winter and the other one nearly did. It recovered a bit this summer, but it still rather sickly. It also seems to have some kind of virus.
