Although it's a bit obvious, my thoughts turned this year to April Fools. Here are some quotes:
On April Fools Day, believe nothing, trust no one - just like any other day.

"Some people can’t be fooled on April Fool’s Day because they were fooled too many times during their entire lifetime.” – Akash B Chandran

"Who needs a day for the fools? I'm surrounded by them all year"

As for Shakespeare:
Fools in Shakespeare often seem to function as permanent, or ‘professional’ Lords of Misrule. They are often employed by the monarch, or the higher status characters, and because they have some sort of skill - they tell jokes, they sing songs, they offer honest opinions, they are free from the normal social order. So long as they don’t displease their employer, they are free to come and go as they wish....

So...

In Blake's 7, who is wise, and who's the fool?

"You're not sulking, I hope?"

As we've been told often enough, a fool knows everything and nothing. Which reminds me of a certain world leader not too far away from me as I type, but then shhhhh! we aren't supposed to talk of real life here. Happy April Fool's everyone.

Well here goes.

Fools Rush In

“I never recognised the fool...”
Avon stared at himself in the mirror of his cabin.
He was still tired and he still hurt; in more ways than one.
So much for being clever and so wise.
How many times had he called Vila a fool?
How many times had he belittled Gan? A giant of a man who had given his life so the others could escape.
Now it was his turn to look foolish.
And both Tarrant and Cally had witnessed it.
Avon looked at himself again.
How could he have been taken in by Anna?
He knew that he had been betrayed, but not by whom.
Even when they questioned him about who else was helping him in the great Bank Fraud, he had kept his mouth shut and then the interrogation had stopped.
Cygnus Alpha had been his destination, until Blake had crossed his path.
Yet it had never occurred to him to question how or why he had been caught.
Maybe it had been Tynus. He was always looking after his own skin; but that meeting on Fosforon had eliminated his involvement.
But even Del Grant was convinced that Anna had paid for her involvement with Avon with her life, and Grant had vowed revenge.
Maybe he should have realised then that all was not as it seemed.
Someone had gone through a great deal of trouble to persuade other interested parties that Anna Grant had died under torture. Even her own brother was convinced of that.
What was the saying?
Love is blind?
Fools rush in where wise men never go?
Yes, those words were so true in his case.
And he felt foolish right now.
He stared at himself again and allowed himself a wry smile.
It was no good. He would have to face the others some time.
And now would be a good as a time as ever.
He turned away from the mirror and took a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever reception awaited him.
Switching off the light, he stepped through the open door, leaving behind any foolish memories of Anna and facing the future a little wiser.
Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold!
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of your window!!
