The great thing is, we can now see a clear career development path opening up for M Kid. After that it'll be N Kid, then O Kid, then P Kid, Q Kid and...finally... R Kid. |

There will be a R Kid in the hurdy gurdy family until the end of time. It's a nice thought. I think of the Hurdy-Gurdys less as a family, more as a dynasty. Has anyone else read any stuff that might be deemed rippy-yarny? I read 'King Solomon's Mines' as a kid and (more recently) 'The Riddle of the Sands', which was fab. Then there were all those Biggles books that seemed mandatory at primary school. I seem to remember a Biggles short story called 'The White Fokker'. Couldn't make it up, tho' Capt W E Johns obviously did. |

Will check out A E W Mason. Have you read the 1908 classic 'The Lost Lands of Liquid Gold' by A E I O U Thwhistleton-Throbwarbler? Rollicks all the way. |

Greetings, gang! I hope they’ve cast John Inman as the camp commandant (so to speak). Then the PoWs can shout “I’m free” when they emerge from the tunnel |

I still get mixed up between Thwistleton-Throbwarbler and the Hon. D J Twistleton-Smyth-Smith. Which one rediscovered the (previously)lost temples of Svalbard??

Looks like first episode is less than 30 minutes this week, so we can start second one at 8.15pm. I've just had my wee!

I remember reading some Rider Haggard stuff at my friend John's house. The books belonged to his father, can't remember why I was there alone long enough to peruse Solomon and his mine etc, but I knew they'd be confiscated if I took them home, so to speak, even supposing Mr B would lend them to me. Great stuff though.

No-one wants to escape with Phipps. Where’s Donald Pleasance when you need him? |

I think I'd be the same - who wants to stage an escape when you've only just woken up. Must be a better time to do it!

Posh British accent means “outside” gets pronounced “ite-side”. |
