Series 2 Blu-Ray?
Htershane
So when are we likely to hear about the next release?
I gather the nod depends on how well the first series has done sales wise and I haven’t seen any info on this, certainly it seems to have been very well received in any reviews I’ve seen but I have to say I was slightly dreading finishing Series 1 not knowing when, or even if, 2 would be forthcoming.
I’d really like to see 2 and 3 out this year at least.

As soon as possible please

Is there any news on Season Two yet?
I am guessing that the sales of this Bluray, judging by the interest, should have been high enough to get Season Two the green light?

I still think that they ought to have just released the whole thing as a box set in the first place.

We're still the red headed step child Sad

Multiple sources say series 2 is being worked on as I write. I heard they were working on the new effects at this time. Series 2 is going to be made and I'm very glad there was such a great response to the first set.

That is very good news indeed

Yep, it's up on Amazon too and I just pre-ordered a copy from HMV (£40 with free shipping)

I know they are working on/done with the Series 2 set but have only heard rumors as to the date of release. As Htershane said above, a May/June release. I had heard a Nov/December release but it could be any time. It does seem the Series 1 set did sell well enough for a Series 2 release, and I expect they'll do the entire series before long.

So if they’re working to a 6 month turnaround between sets we might get S3 this year and pre-ordering 4 this time next year.

Does anyone have any news on season 2 blu ray? I’m hearing things on the Doctor Who site that at the end of May it was still being worked on and now today it’s apparently ‘delivered’.

Thought there’d be more updates here at Blake’s 7 online and more chat about it, but seems Doctor Who site is more excited and in the know? Not that it’s a competition just seems awfully quiet around here considering we’re in the midst of a B7 revival? Maybe the Federation are suppressing the comms…

Paula
I monitor most of not all the sites on Facebook and there has been no word as to release date for series 2. But I'm sure it will be fairly soon.

Why didn't anybody tell me about this? ;-) I just found out last Saturday about the bluray release and ordered series 1 and pre-ordered series 2 rightaway from Zavvi. And now series 1 is 'sold out' on their website so looks like I got the (or one of the) last one(s) they had. It's still available from other sources though.

I already purchased the DVD set a few years ago but never got around to watching it as I had previously watched it on my phone through DailyMotion. But now I will be able to watch the bluray version on my home cinema setup (with a very nice beamer) so that's all for the better.

About the optional new fx: can anybody tell me if they upgraded that godawful security robot in Seek-Locate-Destory and Project Avalon? I wouldn't even mind if they used cgi for that, the original was so terrible that anything would be a huge improvement. I'll still watch the original fx for nostalgic reasons but I would love to see what an actually menacing security robot would have looked like in the B7 universe.

Another practical effect that I wouldn't mind seeing upgraded through cgi if need be is Brian the spider from The Harvest of Kairos. That must be one of the worst 'People In Rubber Suits' scenes ever televised. I mean, it's always pretty obvious in TV shows from that era but this one is truly terrible. And maybe they could show a whole clutter of spiders emanating from the woods in the distance as they run toward the landing module. That would give some credence to this 'deathly threat' of Kairos, because Brian certainly doesn't. Grin

Anyway, looking forward to receiving my copy of Series 1 sometime this week and Series 2 whenever it gets released.

The AI review on Amazon UK notes the following:

"The sex scenes are also mixed, with one customer describing them as very 1984."

It sounds like they really are going all-out with the new CGI inserts.

I did hear they found some 'lost' footage from Hostage of Blake and Inga...
I look exactly as Avon reasoned I would.

Season B artwork now updated on Amazon, looks very nice indeed! Although release date is still showing the end of 2099…

As far as I understand it is really good. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to buy it. At least not now. They are not going to deliver it here, to my country. Maybe it will be easier to get B7 when all series will be available.

Still, I am waiting for your reviews. It's going to be interesting.

Is it controversial to say that S2 is the programme's high point? Only Hostage and Voice From the Past are real duffers.

Amazon US still shows a placeholder date (Click!) but we think it will be 10th November.

That is less likely to work for Blu-Ray, though unlocked players are available for those too, I use one to play US imports.

Loved the convention footage on the series A/1 set. Was wondering if anybody knows where the convention footage for the series B/2 is from? The press release is rather bare in its information saying where the footage is from: RARE CONVENTION FOOTAGE Previously unreleased panels with the cast and crew.

I'm assuming that it's more footage from Deliverance '98, the 20th anniversary convention. They haven't told me yet what panels they are using for the S2 footage yet - I'll have to check what they have chosen this time. Glad you enjoyed the ones on the A/1 set - it was quite an amazing weekend and an honour to have the footage used on the long-awaited blu-ray releases.

I am somewhat disappointed that the compilation "film" shown on Boxing Day 1978, comprising Deliverance and Orac has been omitted from this set, the ideal place for it to be. It was shown as the run in for series B a little over a week before the new season started. The Doctor Who Collection sets are including the compilations (and indeed making up compilations as with season 7) and like those sets these are supposed to be the definitive release of these episodes. I cannot see them being released again on physical media? Someone has suggested they will hold over the compilation to season D which seems a very odd choice if they do. I know the full episodes are on season A but I would like them for the collection, as indeed the commercially available films like THe Beginning, Duel, Orac and Aftermath would have been nice too. Maybe there will be a fifth set of compilations??

Zazzi have just informed me that they have just dispatched my Series 2 Blue Ray Disk set. Like the rest of us, I cannot want to watch the updated special effects alongside re reading the excellent production diary (thank you again Cult Edge for a marvellous publication suite). Thank you all concerned.
