Anybody might think those roos think they own the place! Beginning to be glad we didn't see any at Tycecon 1!

Alien roos are even worse!

Can't promise any roos (alien or earthly), but we do get a good number of these guys visit us on our deck here in the Adelaide hills.
Let's see if I can arrange a visit...

That would be nice – having Roj Bear at a B7 convention!

Tyce, I need to apologise for reacting so late, but I'm very sorry, I can't join your Tyce Con as it starts 9 am (my country's time) and every Saturday I am teaching Gamelan and have Gamelan orchestra rehearsal from 9 am to 2 pm.
I would have loved to Zoom with our B7 fans...
I wish you all a huge lot of fun!
*No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

2 AM Chicago time. Not sure if that's staying up real late or getting up real early....

I guess it depends on how full on your Friday night drinking party is. LOL

That reminds me of something that happened to a schoolmate yonks ago. She came home very late from a party, only to bump into her parents at the doorstep who were going our very early for a fishing trip.
Instead of letting her go to bed, her parents said, 'As you are up at this hour, you can prepare breakfast for us when we come back.'

With no ETA; nice! Grin

Would love to Zoom in. I’ll have to try my best to clear the house out though (maybe I could fake a Hoffels Radiation alarm…)

For BlueyH and all those who would rather no-one saw their knickers (or bockers) drying in front of the fire in the background, why not take a screen shot from your favourite episode and use it as a backdrop in Zoom? It's easy to do once you have an image. Either that, or use one of those supplied by the the Beeb. Just Google them.

I can't wait to see what everyone uses.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Although at a different time than scheduled, Adrienne Burgess was able to attend Tyce-con II. Adrienne was a very interesting and informative guest, and very generous with her time.

We learned Adrienne was born in Queensland, moved to Canberra, then studied a double-honours degree in English and Drama at Bristol University. She began writing a newspaper column, "London Bird's Diary" for the Sydney Morning Herald, which was telexed to Australia from the Reuters building in Fleet Street.

Many articles by - and about - Adrienne can be found in the Trove newspaper archives.

Exeter festival will provide a stage talk with Adrienne Burgess that is as good as going to a play. Her face is animated and her clipped voice expressive - understandable enough as Adrienne is a student in the drama department of the University of Bristol.
The daughter of Mr and Mrs L. K. Burgess, of Red Hill, she is home in Canberra on holidays. At the moment Adrienne is elated. Her translation of the play 'I Am Not The Eiffel Tower' from French into English has been selected for presentation in December at the Union of Students drama festival in Exeter.
Adrienne, who saw the Rumanian play two years ago, said, "It is a very funny play and a topical one with references to the Bomb and Vietnam, It has tremendous colour and is a bit flower-childish.
"There are eight translations, so I just got in on time. The author, Ecaterina Oproiu, sent me the French version".
The three winning plays at the festival will have a three-week run on the West End of London.
Against odds of 149 to one, Adrienne was admitted to the Bristol drama department last year. She says the curriculum is a full one and that it allows the student to develop originality.
"We have an average of eight essays, in the ten week term. Each has a minimum length of 2,000 words though an essay can stretch to 5,000.
"In the English department there are no set topics. Instead you are told that a certain period will be studied and lectures are held mainly to inspire you".
Drama is a fairly general course and includes a study of plays dating from 500BC to the 20th century. There is also a visual aids class which looks at the development of costumes and theatre buildings. Right from the beginning, students take part in plays.
"We had eight productions last year, some of them extending beyond the terms", said Adrienne.
"We often work with postgraduate students who come along for diploma courses or to write a thesis".
There are about 90 students in the drama department - among them is Peter Finch's daughter Anita.
For the first two terms of last year, Adrienne lived in one of the halls of residence which she described as "abysmal". "Too many restrictions - for instance, you were not allowed to have men in your room after seven at night".
On her way home to Australia she stopped in Greece to look at the Greek National Theatre and in Singapore, where she saw a Chinese street opera. Adrienne docs not plan to be active in theatre productions in Canberra during the summer holiday. Instead she will be preparing for second year at the University of Bristol.

After the birth of her daughter, Adrienne wrote "Fatherhood Reclaimed", which was published in 1997.

This led to Adrienne's long-term involvement with Fathers Direct, now known as Fatherhood Institute.

Adrienne didn't know how the BBC make-up people managed to style Hanna's hair for "Shadow". I'm still choosing to believe it was using old Aussie schoolroom favourite, Clag.

Clag. Just the name is enough to make your hair stand on end.

Thank you for the Stamina award, Joe. There's nothing like getting up in the middle of the night to discuss Blake's 7. It was wonderful seeing old and new friends alike at Tyce Con. So glad Adrienne finally caught up with you all. We met her and her husband years ago at a con in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Nice couple. All the best to everyone and a big thank you to our Administrator, Virn (Evelyn), for setting up the Zoom link. It was a blast!
