Yes, thanks for that link to the website... the article on the Lamps of Blake's 7 is strangely interesting and illuminating I see what you did there. I find Tim's essays fascinating and, as you say, very illuminating. Lots of discussion of things I would never have thought of, or noticed, and it opens up a whole new area of appreciation for the show. Plus too, he ties each article into an episode review, the clever clogs. |

OK. I think that summer is due to end tomorrow, and will be declining today, so I ought to get soe use out of the sunlounger before it goes. I do love the discussions this rewatch throws up - I am now aware of crocodile-prowed canoes, for a start (and how much I should charge for one, should I wish to sell it)! See you all next week. Go catch some rays AA. Does summer really end tomorrow? Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

oh, I thought Empire was 1980 and Series D was 81 or 82 Sorry, was losing the thread (literally – the screen was rolling) there. Yeah, SD was 81. They did make it not necessarily Empire, but way-hey, it's a new decade and we have to be novel and try to catch up. That does feel stilted and unnecessary. Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Great line - 'Obsidian, even the name sounds nasty' No, it doesn't. It sounds wonderful to me: sharp. Is this the episode where you got your username?? If so, cool! |

That and the odd obsidian stone tool that has been in my life (archaeologist). Nice stuff, is obsidian. And definitely sharp. There's always some idiot wants to test out that 8 thousand year-old tool by running it along their thumb... Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

51m: Back on the Liberator the gang fly off. AVON: Servalan's options were to take it or to destroy it. Either way, she won. CALLY: I don't think so. She lost, and we lost. Only the Pyroans won. VILA: If that's winning, I'll take losing every time. A solid little mission statement about the moral dilemma of the episode delivered there at the end! If only the episode had actually articulated those different beliefs better earlier it had potential to be a top shelf episode. I hadn't thought about it before, but there's a sort-of continuity of theme with Death-watch, with their different approaches to avoiding armed conflict on a mass scale. That's an interesting point! Deathwatch is much better at world building whereas I never really believe the threat to blow up Obsidian |
