Secret Army

Just a heads up for anyone who doesn't own the Secret Army boxset and would like to watch the series again. The entire series is being reshown on telly here in the UK. It starts tomorrow night on Talking Pictures TV.

Brilliant. That's my sunday night sorted after the end of The Champions.

Is it possible to watch Secret Army and not immediately think of the send-up version of it, 'Allo 'Allo? Which is why the BBC haven't shown it for years now.

You may start out with that thought in mind but the action is so brutal you soon forget all about spoofing it. And the opening and closing crefits are marvellous too. Mood enhancing.

Agreed. The opening/closing credits are up there with the very best of tv drama.

Christopher Neame, so excellent in SA, was - as any fule kno - also in Dr Who, B7 and B5. Wonderful intensity to his acting.

Just watched ep 2 and noticed a cut scene at the end. It was a fairly vital short scene which told us a lot about one of the lead characters...we noticed the chopping on The Champions...who is it that does the chopping? And why does the mutilated version get sold on, instead of the original?

unacceptable if it's just done to fit into the programme into a time slot.

Years ago, when I was visiting New York, I saw an episode of Blackadder on TV. It had so much cut out in order to make room for the adverts (at least 4 ad breaks in a 30min show) that I couldn't follow the plot - and I know most of Blackadder by heart!
My views are my own.

VILA: I'm entitled to my opinion.
AVON: It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.
