Terry Pratchett - Lords and Ladies

Date: Thursday 13th May 2021
Time: 7.45pm

Join us as the Discworld Witches return from their foreign hols (see our discussion of Witches Abroad) and come up against the Elves and Fairies...

Rescheduled from last week!
My views are my own.

VILA: I'm entitled to my opinion.
AVON: It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.

Ready and waiting. How are you both?
You're not sulking, I hope?

Just making a cup of tea. Donít ask how I am. I might tell you.

Already did. Come on, get it out of your system. What did the Feds do to you this time?
You're not sulking, I hope?

My antibody test kit has arrived. I have to stab myself tomorrow, in the interests of science.

Ooh, interesting! How come you get one?

Hi both!

Still working, and lost track of time. Also very distracted by what's going on in Israel (nearly all my family live there).

Thought you might be following that strand of the news. I hope all your people are all right.

Stab?
I picked up a couple of boxes of Testing Kits. So far, I've done it twice & hubby once. It's a bit tricky - 'swab your tonsils without touching any other part of your mouth' - yeah, right. No doubt I'll get the hang of it with practice...

Oh, that's horrible! You poor old thing. And if it's come out before, they'll claim they need to re-do the thing.

(You can't spend money on the trains at the moment - just saying...)

I was randomly selected for the antibody test.

What if you havenít got any tonsils?

That happened to me last March! Dentist took one look at the tooth underneath and said 'Can't be fixed, needs to come out' and made an appointment for a couple of weeks after that.
And then came lockdown.
I eventually had the wretched thing out in September.

Yes, I was wondering how things are for them. It's so scary.

I donít desperately want to lose the tooth, mainly because local anaesthetic doesnít work properly on me. I think it might hurtÖ

Yeah. We had a family Zoom this evening. My sister and her son & grandson were driving when sirens went off, and they had to stop the car and take shelter by a wall. You're supposed to lie flat on the ground, but the pavement was so hot (heatwave!) that they could only crouch. My nephew has now stored a rafia type mat in his car for future such incidents.

You swab the area where they would have been. I've got tonsils, but hubby hasn't and actually I think it's easier for him.

Oooh, ourch. If it does need to come out, maybe you could have a general anaesthetic?

Thatís scary. I hope it calms down soon. Itís never the people doing the shouting who have to suffer for it.
