Wasn't he brilliant in that? And that mother of his...what a nightmare!!!!!

I thought it was excellent. I was on tenterhooks all the way through.

I can remember watching Gideon's Way the first time round,,,yeah, I'm that old. Anyway, I was just halfway through an episode (back in the 60s) when there was a knock on the door. My Dad answered it and then decided that I really ought to go to bed.. I've no idea what as so urgent that I had to miss one of my favourite shows at the time, but for the life of me, I can't remember which episode it was that I missed! So watching it now is just great. Very well written and the acting can't be faulted. Also most of the music in it will turn up much later on in other shows created by Mr Baker and Mr Berman.

It's at about 2'44". The item ends with a Federation pursuit ship being blown up (at about 6'10").

Glynis Barber was in an episode of London Kills. She played a Politician who's son was murdered. She is still gorgeous!

Nearly saw (was interrupted) Zulu the 1964 film in which Dr Bellfriar/ Paul Daneman co-stars. I saw his name in the opening credits and despite not knowing he was in it, I knew who he played. He looked very different, partly because his character is ill in hospital with a raging fever. My mind had stored the knowledge away unbeknownst to me. Story of my life...Grin

Just looking through the network sale and I came across a tv show called Mister Jericho. It stars Patrick Mcnee which first drew my attention but then I noticed the co-star is Paul Darrow. Don't know if anyone has heard of it or already got it but just thought I would let you know.

I have the vis-tape. Paul Darrow extending his ethnic range to being a Maltese hotel receptionist. That's after being an Egyptian in Virgin of the Secret Service and a Turkish museum curator in The Saint.

I get to see all sorts of series and movies long after the fact thanks to often being AWOL from my TV in some other country when they are televised.

Just caught the series of Sense and Sensibility, made in 2007, and Madonna's woeful W.E., from 2011. Damien Thomas – a.k.a."I'm not a Space Rat" Atlan appeared in both.

I made my family watch “Robots of Death” from Doctor Who with me because it was written by Chris Boucher, edited by Robert Holmes, and had Brian Croucher and David Collings in it. It was also directed by Micheal E. Briant and the incidental music was by Dudley Simpson. While watching the credits, I was picking out all of these names and my family asked how in the world I knew all this; they only recognized Brian Croucher!
I have never understood why it should be necessary to become irrational to prove that you care, or indeed why it should be necessary to prove it at all.

Robots of Death was brilliant, a real standout Dr Who series. Also in RoD are Pamela Salem (Kara - Cygnus Alpha) and David Bailie (Chevner – Project Avalon). Robert Holmes was Script Editor.

One of our local channels endlessly repeats certain British crime series. We're back at Ep. 1 of Inspector Morse (The Dead of Jericho) again after a couple of years off and, for the first time, I noticed Souad Faress (Selma – Horizon) playing the small role of a hospital doctor. Morse is talking to her in the background, which is probably why I hadn't noticed her before. Pretty slack, though, as I must have seen it about 4 or 5 times before.

Hey littlesue! Don't know where you're up to in Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, but it's one of the rare occasions on which you'll see Avon's brother, David Bache. Episode S2.Ep.2 "The RAF Reunion". He's one of the blokes at the reunion – tall and fair-haired.

PS. Stuart Fell is in it too.

My family was watching Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade tonight, and before they’d even put the disk in, I announced, “You know, Julian Glover is the villain and he was in Blake’s 7!” They groaned as I proceeded to give a breakdown of, well, “Breakdown”… Smile

I was just watching Murdersville a S5 episode of The Avengers, (Steed and Mrs Peel not Ironman et al) and in the 1st 15 mins a man in dark glasses murdered someone with a shotgun. It was an uncredited Gareth Thomas. 1st time I clocked it was him. Then later, Ensor jr turned up in the museum sitting in some stocks...well, it is The Avengers, after all.

Watching At the Earth's Core on Legend. Cy Grant looks much younger in this than he did in B7, although it was only filmed 4 years earlier. In fact it's only that rich voice that gives him away as the same actor.

At Christmas, to ease some of the sadness after doing the Southern Hemisphere (actually, Eastern Hemisphere) rewatch of 'Blake' on Christmas Eve, I dug up 'Scrooge' 1970 from YouTube just so that I could watch lovely David Collings as Bob Cratchit.

This musical adaptation featured some greats, including Albert Finney as Scrooge, Alec Guiness as Marley's Ghost, Dame Edith Evans, Kenneth More, Gordon Jackson and Roy Kinnear. Don't know when I last watched this (decades ago), but David Collings is still just perfect as Mr. Cratchit. He's the only thing I remembered about the film – Love of Bob Cratchit at age 12.

Also, thanks to endless repeats on one of our commercial channels, caught Stephen Tate (Mandrian - Mission to Destiny) as Patrick Bennett in Kavanagh QC S2 Ep2 "Men of Substance". I'd never looked at his career before. At age 12 (thanks to the "Tina" comic) I probably knew that he'd played Judas to Paul Nicholas' Jesus in the original London stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar but had since forgotten. Wowie! What a blast from the past that all was. There are some great pics from the show on Alamy.

Finally managed to watch the legendary The Legend of Robin Hood on the weekend. Apart from Avon and Ford Prefect in the steam bath (steady, Avon ladies, steady!) I also spotted Ushton (Hubert Rimmer) as Lady Marion's father, Ensor Jr. as Friar Tuck, Jarriere as a monk (the nose gave it away), Joban Ardus or Ardus Joban as an evil Abbot and Molok as a robber. Oh, and there was also Tony Steedman who seems to have been in everything except B7.

While part 6 seemed a little rushed and the fight scenes are quite ridiculous, all in all the series is a refreshing take on the all too familiar story, more focused on political scheming than on the usual preposterous adventures of merry men in tights. Wonderfully gritty, without tights, with Friar Tuck as a serious character and the love of Robin and Marion never consummated.

Also interesting to compare this with Arthur of the Britons: In Arthur, the true Brits are the Celts fighting against the Saxon invaders. In Robin, the true Brits are the Saxons fighting against the Norman overlords. Tempora mutantur...

And you failed to say that in Arthur of the Britons, Tom Chadbon was a 'spy' in one episode. I've got the DVD set but only have seen the one episode as of yet. Now I need to watch The Legend of Robin Hood to see all the familiar actors. I've seen a still photo of the steam bath scene but it left me shrugging and saying, 'so?' (ducks as Avon ladies throw cans of prawn flavored Pringles at me!)
