UK Rewatch - C10 Ultraworld
trevor travis
The episode: Colin Ten – Ultraworld (Carry On Being Blue)
The date: Tuesday, September 6th, 2022
The time: 7.45pm UK time

In which Cally is taken over by a glitterball; the Ultra massage Avon’s ego by greatly increasing the amount of money he was trying to nick; we find out that Dayna really is a rather dangerous young lady as she makes sure that the Human Bonding Ceremony goes with a bang; and Vila forgets to tell Orac the riddle about the Thief From Nantucket.

Footnote: In 1991, the Orb released an album called “The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld” on the final track is called "A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld". I think, possibly, that may be connected to this episode!

Episode in a word: Zombies.
Characters to cheer: The Vila and Orac double act – with a load of corny riddles and jokes, they defeat the Core and make it spew out a load of green slime.
Character to boo: Tarrant, for putting Avon and Cally’s brains back in the right way around, and therefore spoiling our fun.
Is Soolin looking lovely this week: Yes.
Recognisable Face: Ian Barritt (one of the Ultra) played Professor Peach in the Doctor Who serial “The Unicorn And The Wasp” from 2008 – that’s the one about Agatha Christie. At the start of the episode, he’s the first murder victim. He’s killed in the library with the lead piping.
Best exchange: AVON: You really believe in taking risks, don't you?” TARRANT: “Calculated ones.” AVON: “Calculated on what? Your fingers?”

Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Space KFC
Vote Og.

Brad
Cally was taken while ravin'
To satisfy Ultraworld's cravin'
Tarrant will Rally, but ruin for Cally,
Her one chance to get inside Avon.

Hi, littlesue! Can't say this is one of my top 48 episodes, but it's worth being here for the banter.
Hope you're OK. I'm on the hard stuff tonight - dandelion & burdock, plus a couple of bits of chocolate orange. Cheers!

I may need some of the hard stuff if the kitchen fitter doesn't turn up tomorrow...Dearest has been taking the old kitchen out and it is a bit echoing in this house at the mo!!!
PS, the fitter came back off his hols on Saturday and had a nasty tummy, hence not able to come first thing Monday

I've long thought this ep was a mash-up of several previous ideas.
Hope you're both well, btw.

which lock can't be opened by a key? An air lock.

Vila, let's see if you still find that funny this time next season.

Is it me, or does Avon tend to operate on the basis of 'Find out what Tarrant wants to do and suggest the opposite' these days?

Ultraworld looks like a Disco Planet ... I wonder if they have any flashing groin robots down there?

Didn't someone say once that Ultraworld looked like a Durian? At least it's not orange and swirly.
