Ideas for Rewatches
M1795537OCVirn
Thinking ahead... which non B7 things might we consider rewatchng one day?

Here's mine - won't come as a surprise, I've asked for it before... HYPERDRIVE. BBC post-B7 SF comedy, with a great cast, better sfx and another unforgettable song - think 'It's great to be free'..
Here's a clip to give you the idea....(their mission is about 'furthering Britain's interests in the wider galaxy': currently trying to sell the 'Peterborough Enterprise Zone' ).

(Both series available on DVD and free online)

I loooove Hyperdrive! Every time I rode the elveator in the Kew Bridge Premier Inn, I was tempted to go all Lallakiss and shout, "Talky door! Talky door!"

Probelm is, I hadn't been able to make it to the Wednesday rewatches for months, thus missing the Ruth era... Sad Sad Sad . I don't know whether I would be up for regular Wednesday rewatches again, although it definetely has its appeal to watch HD in company, maybe accompanied by a Hoffmeister and a giant bean on toast...

I liked what I saw of Hyperdrive. And I absolutely love Children of the Stones. Happy day. Happy to watch both.

Children of the Stones is brilliant. Rewatched relatively recently on YouTube having not seen it since it first aired back in the late '70s. It stood up to everything I'd thought of it at the time, as excellent children's TV for adults. Those moving stones have remained with me always. Being an archaeologist helped the fascination. If I could join you for rewatches, I would. Timing's not great for me though.Sad

Tripods is pretty good too, for much the same reasons. Don't know if that's been featured here before.
Don't philosophise at me you electronic moron.

Sorry, CB, I'm not the Supreme Commander, so I don't have the answers. I just thought it would be interesting/a good idea to find out what people wanted to watch after 'Survivors', since I can't remember what was said in the olden days pre the current website..

Why not run your own poll on the matter? You have the option if you start a new thread. Although in my experience polls here don't usually get many people actually voting. Good luck.

We have Wednesdays as a rewatch, or non-Blake's 7 rewatch day as it was convenient for all persons involved to be free on that evening. We have in the past done many Doctor Who stories, plus, Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers, Buck Rogers, Sapphire and Steel, Space 1999 and many other episodes, films and series.

When we have a number of people interested in watching a series together we usually hash it out to see when we can all be available to watch it- whatever day, bar Blake's 7 Tuesday evenings, and we make a new thread for it in the non-Blake's 7 rewatch thread and watch at the appointed time. The problem is getting enough participants for said new rewatch. I have done the Big Finish audios myself at times as no one would participate so we discontinued that one. If you have ideas about a certain series for rewatch by all means you can discuss it with people here on the non-Blake's 7 threads and see what they think. If there is an interest, we are open to most suggestions, however strange. I hope this answers your questions.

Edit: We have done Children of the Stones years back, but that never stopped us from rewatching yet another time. We've done S&S twice and are finishing up the second viewing of the Survivors at this time. There is nothing wrong seeing favorite series over and over again.

Thanks very much indeed for those clarifications, Paula. I think I've said more than enough on the topic now, so I'll see what transpires and maybe tag along for a bit as and when the time comes.

Well, I don't think it will happen but I'm going to say it anyway... if anyone is willing to tie up their life for more than 2 years, I would love to watch Babylon 5 in good company....AngryGrin

Seconded! A Babylon 5 rewatch would be great (spotting all the stuff being inspired by B7).

Although I don't know if evil little me counts as 'good company' for you...

I would love to Rewatch Babylon 5. However I play bridge on Monday and Wednesday evenings !!
I look behind me, what do I see? A pair of golden wings seem to be attached to me.

Having mulled on it, I'll skip non-B7 rewatches so have removed my suggestions.

Thanks for that, CB. I removed your 'null' posts, because we Feds like to keep things tidy.

So - the excellent SURVIVORS has finished its run of rewatches... and at the risk of repeating myself (well, I am repeating myself, unashamedly so),
I still vote for HYPERDRIVE next, which I suspect many of you have never heard of. Except here.

It's grown-up SF with British humour, a fantastic cast, and a better song than 'It's great to be free' (yes, I know that's hard to believe). Think 'The Office' in space. And it's available on YouTube. And we haven't done it before. I'll even say PLEASE.

Hi Paula and OSP,

Would you both be interested in starting up something else on Wednesdays, starting from the first Wednesday of November?

How about Fawlty Towers or the Prisoner, unless you have something else in mind?

PS M1795537OCVirn, I've checked out and seen Hyperdrive and that's only 12 half-hour episodes, so it's something we could do in six weeks. I need to get the DVD first, though. Could we maybe do Fawlty Towers first (in the run-up to Christmas and a nice counterpoint to the bleakness of B7 Series D), and then maybe do Hyperdrive from the first week of January, before switching back to the Prisoner after that. Does that sound like a deal?

That sounds like a good idea to me. A newer sitcom for a new year.

Firstly, thanks for responding to my suggestion. I'm now devastated that I can't find series 2 of Hyperdrive on YouTube - sure it WAS there once, - does anyone have any ideas where else to look?
Not sure about watching two episodes per session (of anything) - it's a lot to take in, but if it's how things are 'done' then so be it. Also, I'm OK whenever we get round to it, as long as we do.

The other suggestion in the discussion above was 'Children of the Stones', so perhaps that should go on the list, too.

Fawlty Towers is a great contrast to Survivors, too, although desperately sad in its own way, really. It gets my vote for the run-up to Christmas.

Have you looked on daily motion for hyperdrive?
Fawlty towers looks like it is going to be next then? What date?

Okay, unless anyone has any issues with it, we'll start Fawlty Towers on Wednesday, November 9th (was going to start this Wednesday, but we'll take the extra week so everyone has a bit more of a chance to get it into their diaries).

With 12 weeks and 2 episodes a week, it will take six weeks and we'll complete it on Wednesday, December 14th.

The plan is then Hyperdrive on Wednesdays from January 2023.
