I love that they still have time for a joke – "It isn't marked 'Entrance'".

So how did Servalan leave Goth without the location of Star One? Doesn't seem like her.

That's the thing I don't quite understand. Both Travis and Servie are there to find the location, not just Blake and Co., but somehow they leave without getting that info. Presumably, Travis gets his right from the horse's mouth, as it were. Why Servie just returns to HQ is puzzling other than the fact that she needs to be there, amongst the troops, to reinforce her position as President.

Sorry I'm so slow. Crawling through mud here. Poor old pooter is clogged.

I think she has to be there because her work is there - and there is presumably plenty of it, even when things are not going to hell in a handcart. The trip to Goth must have been a quick dash to get the info - which makes it all the stranger that she left without it.

But Travis's decision to betray the Federation must have been a very sudden one.

And we're back to Gloucestershire. Who'll be first to spot some buddleia?

I love the very seventies decor of the base!

Well, Servie wouldn't give him the partnership he wanted. I can't really blame her; she wouldn't have wanted to be still tied to a loser, not if she didn't want to attract derision. Travis was old hat so he decides it's time, but there had to have already been some forward planning and contact with the Andromedans for him to get there so fast.

But if there is forward planning with the Andromedans, why did he need to go to Goth to find the location of Star One?

I love it too, especially that textured wall.

Watch it - the magnetic explosives don't stick on very well.

My eyes are being very drawn to the light fittings, for some reason.

Avon has the BEST lines. CB went all-out. He gave all the others some class lines too, but he spoiled PD.

Part of the reason why I like the ep – the uncertainties. What will happen to our heroes????

Why I like Blake - the uncertainties. Then it all resolves, very neatly - then the final twist.

That's a slightly worrying response. I'm hoping you mean the effect was good?
But why does it never happen again (or before)?

I like that Blake can't uphold his fanaticism in the face of a real threat.

AnneArthur
Lurena's death always reminds me of Sheridan with the bombs in Za'ha'dum. I wonder if it was an influence?

AnneArthur
It is a pity the Andromedan fleet looks so unimpressive.

Obsidian
Another thing I really like about this ep is the direction – there are some really brilliant shots which are very stagey, juxtaposing characters, binding them while contrasting them, focussing on faces etc. Makes my little heart swell.

That's quite an exit line for Blake!

That's probably the best ending to an episode, I'll give you that.

Especially when two ticks later a shot from the same blaster does nothing. It was a great effect – splatter everywhere AND it's not green. I don't know why the gore was limited. Maybe FX could only afford one bucketful.

Ah! Second best ending in the series. But it's odd - because I never saw the first two series when I watched this originally, I always look forward to getting into the more familiar territory of the last two.

The whole episode is beautifully written. I rate Chris Boucher very highly. Watching Doctors Who that I never saw before, The Robots of Death stands out like a bright shining gem. I'd love to meet the man. His brain works in a way I admire greatly.

OK, I, for one, am not ready to go back to RL just yet. I'm off to view the 'special features'. Have a great day, all. See you next time, I hope.

The Robots of Death is excellent. I remember it from my childhood for those gorgeous robots - I absolutely fell in love with them. But seeing it as an adult, the script is a gem too.

I have to get on with my day, sadly, But great to see you all - see you next week for What Avon Did Next!

I didn't see the last ep of S3 or any of S4 the first time around, back in the early 80s. Had to wait for the 20 year-old thesis to be out of my head before I could go "Now, what happened in B7?" It had been a need aching there for years. My dearly beloved got me the vids and made me a happy grrrl. But even though I hadn't seen them, they fell into place perfectly; everything made sense.
