If you're thinking of using one of the Steventon pubs this weekend, head for The Fox as The Cherry Tree is likely to be out of bounds, except for those who've booked accommodation there. Thanks for the update, Cygnus Bazza. I've checked with The Fox and they are open all day, and will be serving food, so the pre-convention meet-up will move there. Sorry for the Cherry Tree residents who will have to make the arduous trek next door! |

@Cygnus Bazza & purplecleric Thanks for the update both. Just waiting for the Cherry Tree to confirm they have our reservation as spoken to someone there just now and they couldn't find it. Becky has just booked us into the Premier Inn in case Looking forward to seeing everyone on the weekend. |

Yippeeeee!! I was really worried for a bit that we wouldn’t have anywhere to drink!!! I've tipped off The Fox and they're getting contractors in on Thursday/Friday to lay pipelines to two of the local micro-breweries, to cope with the surge in demand. And that's just GanMiniMe I'm talking about. The club sandwich at The Fox is quite nice BTW. Never close yourself to more, learn we can - that's for sure

Hi everyone, I'm really looking forward to catching up with everyone I already know and meeting anyone I've yet to meet. Do come and say hello. I'm staying at the Premier Inn (Didcot) tomorrow (ie Saturday) night and Sunday night. My biggest dilemma at the moment is whether to have dinner up at the hotel restaurant or come down to the Fox Inn. I know people are staying up at the Premier but also some staying in Fox Inn or Cherry Tree so not sure where everybody will be. I'd thought Saturday night at the Premier Inn and Sunday after the con to the Fox Inn but if no-one is dining at the Premier and all headed down to the Fox Inn, maybe my little crowd should go down there... Who's staying where? And where will you be Saturday night? HORIZON MERCHANDISE - I don't have a sales table this time but will be bringing along a selection of things including some fanzines, a couple of sets of our Technical Manuals, some copies of Paul's 'Man of Iron' unproduced script, back issues of our available original print-run fan club back issue magazines (from 26 to 40), photos (signed & unsigned - NB won't have signed photos of any of the attending guests as obviously you can get them at the event. They normally have their own photos with them for you to get signed, but I'll have some unsigned ones too which they'd be happy to sign also) I'll have a small box of B7 notepads & writing paper sets, some photo stamp sheets & our famous 'I love Blake's 7' car/window stickers. Possibly some scripts if I can find the box... A few of our specially made Servalan/Jacqueline Pearce t-shirts which have her signature on as well as picture & slogan 'I'm just the girl next door' in Large (and 1 Extra Large), a couple of our Horizon sweat shirts, and 3 Deliverance '98 jackets, some D98 mugs and the Souvenir Brochure & Exhibition catalogue. Taking requests if anyone knows they want anything in particular - trying to finish packing tonight but will still have a bit of time in the morning... Hoping to bring my little portable card machine (if I can remember how it actually works) but otherwise cash. "Some days are better than others, Section Leader"

Wishing you all much fun today on the 'warm-up' evening and tomorrow at the con the après-event!! Enjoy a Guinness and some prawn cocktail crisps (or whatever your poison may be), whether in the Fox or the Premier Inn. I hope to be there next time and meet the gang again - it's been too long! |

Down and safe after a lovely day with all the wonderful people who have kept me sane these past 4 years. And big thank you to Phil with his wonderful Hugbot. Hidden deep inside the Hugbot is a panel with his name on it (saying he built it) and a lovely mention of my late Daughter Sarah who inspired him to build it. I burst into tears when he showed me his phone and photos of what was deep inside. Just in case anyone there was wondering why I was blubbing....and Phil gave me a little cardboard model of Hugbot. Photos to follow later. Cold! You don't know the meaning of the word cold! Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of your window!! Thank you one and all, lovely human beings, for a fantastic day! I knew this would be worth the wait but it exceeded every expectation. Huge thanks to the organisers, and to everybody for their kindness, fantastic company, hospitality and their lifts to and from my hotel. I hope to see you all again, hopefully in less than 2 1/2 years!! Lizzy |

Welsh Rebels(s) down and safe. Huge shout out and congrats to everyone involved for a fantastic day. To everyone still travelling/travelling later this week enjoy the rest of your stay and safe journey. Hopefully we won't have to wait so long to meet up again at a celebration rather than a memorium. To Emma who had to miss the convention because of COVID hope you feel better soon, safe trip home and hopefully you can make the next one. I'm sorting out the photos from the event/location visit and will pop them up on a link later for those who want them. Jon & Becky |

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had such a lovely time. And it was such a healing day, both in terms of saying goodbye to Paul and in braving a social event after so long in lockdown. Team Blake worked so hard, both in the planning and the delivery of the event and it really couldn’t have gone better. Conventions for the fans, by the fans have a sweetness and depth that is unique and every detail fills a need you didn’t know you had. Special thanks to the Federation Guards. How you guys survived in the heat is beyond me. And to Team Blake - well you’re just the best! Ps. To M….virn. It was so nice to meet you In person! Play the hand fate deals you.

Well, judging from the lack of photos and anecdotes on this thread (except for LS's, of course), there must have been FA going on at FA! Highlights? Surprises? Funny moments? Accommodation nightmares? Frolics in The Fox? Ill-advised excursions into the badlands of Didcot? M1 Virnetc faux pas (narrow these down to three if you could)? Please do share for the benefit on those who missed out! Never close yourself to more, learn we can - that's for sure

Shame the Forum seems to have become a bit of a backwater in many respects these days, with people posting to FB etc as a preference. (Personally, I wouldn't touch FB with someone else's friend's mother's super-extended bargepole.) Wonder if this place will just end up atrophying into a rewatch and possibly ficlet hub? Yep I also shun FB, I guess I lack the narcissistic traits to continually post there , or maybe I am just too lazy! TBH been so busy lately with RL stuff, work etc. that I tend to be in the real world longer than I would like. But in summary it was a lovely weekend. My wife and I drove up to Steventon on a roundabout route where we took in a number of filming locations and a pub lunch! I can thoroughly recommend the village of Turville (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang location as well as Poirot, Endeavour and Jonathan Creek!) Also took in several other villages used in Midsomer Murders and the village of East Hagbourne which was used in the filming of the Classic Doctor Who episode , The Android Invasion. We met up with some Team Blake committee members whilst checking in at a local Premier Inn hotel and then wandered over to the Fox Inn Met some delightful fans from all over the world, Australia, US and Wales! Great to see some new fans, some who are almost half my age (and look twice as good!) One was even a Tarrant fan! There was much admiring of my wife's crocheted Blake's 7 characters. I am sure some photos will appear of these over the coming days. It was just so good to catch up with fellow B7 fans, after 2 years worth of restrictions and lock-downs. Good to see new souls to the faith being added and the dedication of people travelling from the other side of the world to indulge in some Blake's 7 nostalgia. The next day it was an early start for us as we answered the call to assist at the event. The venue is a small but well appointed hall with decent facilities. Gary did his usual thing with his amazing collection of costumes, with a few new additions too. Matt Irvine, Phil and Andy brought their collections of models and props too. Even though I have been to more B7 events than I can easily recollect, it was an impressive turn out of B7 memorabila and our celebration of Paul Darrow and his much loved role of Avon. Particularly memorable, to me anyway was Phil's impressive model of the Space Princess (complete with ice cream van music) and the *cough* deadly security robot. If we have any more lock-downs sure Phil will be able to assemble the entire Andromedan Battle Fleet! I was tasked with looking after Stephen Greif and I think he was particularly touched by the continual love and dedication fans have both to Paul and to the program of Blake's 7 in general. He recounted how Paul(ie) helped him get the role of Travis and his initial visit to Hardcore Leather to get fitted up. One fan from either Aus or the US (Emma?) had contracted Covid over the weekend , so Stephen wrote a special greeting to her on the back of one of his publicity photo graphs. Other guests were June Hudson, Jan Chappell, Sally Knyvette and Steven Pacey who also pleased at the large turnout despite Covid, and the current challenges with the current situation. Team Blake put together a marvelous video montage to Paul and all the roles he had performed over the years. I did feel some tears welling up at the end, I am a big softy really! June is an amazing lady, still full of stories and I was impressed that she stayed for the full duration of the event. There was so much to do as a helper I missed out on things like the quiz and the auction, but I didn't mind too much, as my house has plenty of B7 artifacts already, but I understand that the event made plenty of money for Paul's charity. My main takeaway was catching up with old fan friends, meeting new fans and wallowing in some nostalgia and doing my small bit to ensure the event went well for my fellow team members and our wonderful B7 alumni. Team Blake worked really hard putting this event together and I think they did the fans and guests proud. Like the old Horizon Newsletters, it was late (no fault of theirs) but it was definitely worth it after the wait! If there is another event, hopefully as a celebration than a memorial, I will certainly attend and help out in any way I can! Should be some photos at some point but need to get back to work! My gang gets free extra strong mints for the rest of their lives!

I'll get my photos uploaded to a share and post the link here on the weekend (I don't do FB either!). ATM they're split between my phone and camera. We took some of the first timers into Abingdon Saturday morning for the location visit and spent a couple of hours in the gatdens and by the river, then after dropping them back to the Cherry Tree (must admit was a bitvsad seeing the courtyard all overgrown) and dropped by the hall to help Gary unload some of his stuff ahead of Sunday. Like Vargas we both were helping out Sunday during the event and to get the hall put back to normal afterwards. Best part of the weekend was being able to catch up with old friends and meet new ones and seeing everyone having a good time and giving Paul the send off he deserved. Special mention must go out to the members of the ukgarrison - they must have been roasting in those costumes.... Emma (the young Australian first timer who came down with COVID) is doing OK, currently isolating in the spare room of one of the members on here and I understand she's managed to get a flight back home at the end of the month. I know she was really touched by the personal message from Stephen G. Most hilarious moment had to be post convention in the Premier Inn Sunday night when one of the overseas visitors came out from the bar having just got her last order in before it shut and announced she had just 'double fisted' and wondered why she got some odd looks! |

Some great photos there Scott, yes I forgot about the UKgarrison, it was a warm day and they must have been roasting in those uniforms. Such great costumes, those visored helmets are very intimidating.

As a fan who left Facebook a long time ago, I like to thank you, Littlesue, Vargas, Welsh Rebel and Scott for your photos and report! I really missed you and the always so friendly contact with the actors and creators. Did I see a photo (email forwarded by Paula) in which Stephen is wearing the Liberator tie I once made for him? Now isn't that lovely! I dearly hope to meet you all again the next Convention. *No, I am not. I am not expendable, I'm not stupid, and I'm not going.*

M1 Virnetc faux pas Well I was convinced she was a man, so having threatened to poke out her eye on this site and then discovering she was a fellow seska was a tad embarrassing. Especially as she had provided free marshmallows. Great Cos players! Mrs Underhill in her Killer costume a highlight. Season 4 costume booklet - such a great souvenir. And the audience gasp when the curtain went up on Gary’s costume display. Coming second in the Quiz (mainly due to lack of competition I suspect) despite having a complete brain freeze on Time Squad! And getting a prize bag full of amazing goodies. Hugbot and the Space Princess (the latter displayed along with Xerox gold). Did Phil patiently craft about 50 bars of fake gold? And if not him, who? Why didn’t I have the confidence to ask to be photographed hugging Hugbot! Amazing models and prop displays. Callum Ward’s paper constructions mind boggingly brilliant. Charity table just overflowing with goodies. And people liking the little animals and box I’d decoupaged with Blake’s 7 pictures. Lovely panel and what a darling Steven Pacey turned out to be - Tarrant all is forgiven! Just the sheer warm niceness of the whole experience! No pictures I’m afraid as I haven’t mastered imagur. And tbh I always get so caught up in the moment I forget to take many. Play the hand fate deals you.

No pictures I’m afraid as I haven’t mastered imagur. Hi Annie, Maybe this will help. Also, it would be great to have someone test-drive it to see if it works: How to post photos on the forum N.B. This process looks long, but it's really quite quick! Go to a free photo hosting site such as Imgur: Click! Click on the "New post" button at top left. You will be taken to the Upload page. You can upload your photos several ways: 1. Drag & drop - Open up the folder with your photos. Select the ones you want to upload and drag them all (by holding down the left mouse button, then moving the mouse across to the imgur upload window) to the "Drop images here" area. (Let go of the mouse button to release the photos. Don't worry, you aren't moving them off your computer. This just tells Imgur where to copy them from. 2. Choose Photo/Video - opens a file explorer window. You can navigate to the photos you want, select them and upload them. 3. Paste location - if you have the path to the photos, you can paste it here. |

Let's try "Choose Photo/Video" Click on Choose Photo/Video Navigate to the folder containing the photo(s) you want to upload. Click on the photo. A blue box will appear around the photo to show it is selected. The name of the photo will also appear in the "File name" window at the bottom of the screen. You can upload more than one photo at a time. To select another photo, hold down the [SHIFT] key and click on another key. You will see both photos have the blue selection box around them, and both photos are listed in the "File name" box. |
