Unless the backdrop is really...noticeable...voice from the past like.... I don't think about it. The story grips me and I follow that rather than the surroundings although the exterior shots as you say are very pleasing to the eye. I do like the lack of rush. The story is unfolding and the pacing fits what is happening in the scene.
