Back-to-back brilliance. Simple as that.

If prehistory's your thing, the John Cleese-penned episode of Doctor At Large called 'No Ill Feeling' is on YouTube - that's where he gave the basic idea of Fawlty Towers its first run-out (1971, I think): brusque hotel owner (the ubiquitous Timothy Bateson - a familiar face) with a domineering wife; plus the two old ladies are prototyped. And because all roads lead to B7, Roy Kinnear's in it. It's not terribly funny but rather intriguing.

Hi, OSP, and CB.

Psychosomatic I know, but I'm actually feeling a bit peckish.

The humour in this sort of stuff doesn't really date, even if the fashions and technology change. It's just desperately accurate observation of human nature.

Sorry you're hungry CB, I'd offer some Prawn cocktail Pringles, but I don't think you'd accept.

OK, both these episodes are a 10. I'll confirm that now rather than later!

I'm surprised you can hear any of the dialogue, to be honest...

You don't get many 'Ronalds' these days, do you?

Why has Basil got a Henry Kissinger fixation?

I've always loved the term 'riff-raff'. Name of an AC/DC track, as it happens.

You can always trust Basil not to gather critical information when he has the opportunity.

An object lesson in self-absorption.

Basil would never survive in the age of TripAdvisor.

Basil flying through those swing doors is a beautiful moment of physical comedy.

Cygnus Bazza
Is this the episode where Manuel is physically assaulted the most?

trevor travis
It's all getting out of control as usual!

You'd think Sybil would take a moment to wipe the food out of Basil's hair... And that's a hell of a head thud.
