I was wondering, does the music to Blakes 7 exist anymore, or was it junked by the BBC?

sweevo
As far as I'm aware, most of it was junked by the BBC. The only tracks that survive are the main theme, the Federation March (B-side to the B7 single) and the teleport fanfare.

Mysterioso, background to the Liberator and Servalans office is on a bbc sound effects compilation cd

I mean radiophonic workshop cd, was on record originally

I'm guessing the electronic score for "Gambit" may well also exist with the Radiophonic Workshop back catalogue administered by Mark Ayres.

All the best

rewatching the series currently, and how I wish more composers were used. Everything Dudley does in B7 turns into "ba.... ba-ba-ba-baaaa" sooner rather than later

I hope there is no extant recording of Uncle Vere's song for the closing credits!

Did Mr Pacey ever record it do you know?
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

I rather like the incidental music for Sarcophagus which is very effective, especially the slightly detuned Lute like stringed instrument Dayna plays,a nicely other worldly sound, pity she didn't get to play it again in the series.

On a side note to this subject, i recently found that Dudey also made the music for The Tomorrow People. As a musician myself, i enjoy trying to spot the instruments used in the old BBC Radiophonic recordings as used in B7. I own a few classic analogue synthsizers , but not the EMS VCS3. I am frustrated to hear the BBC "Junked" B7 recordings.

I was not around when B7 was aired originally but i love classic Sci Fi. Blakes being the top of my list. The effects and music is fantastic. Shame the BBC did not have the foresight to know the future fanbase fore retro scores would exist and that there would be profit in it.

There was a deleted scene where Dayna is playing that instrument and Vila comes along drunk as usual. Takes the instrument off her and smashes it over the flight console. Grin

Even if was all junked the scores should still exist somewhere in someone's private collection or something. Those tracks for the single were as far as I know re-recorded as the originals were in mono only.

Well, i had no idea it was produced in Mono. Perhaps i should split the frequencies into 6 parts and re-create the theme as stereo then digitally remaster it. If the original master tapes exited, one could very simply remaster it into Dolby dual stereo or even quadraphonic surround. I could create a simple stereo-ized effect for an entire episode, but it would be very basic trickery rather than splitting every frequency and re-tracking digitally which could bring a very nice stereo range and ad vitality to the main theme. I will consider it.
Ergo there you go.

Did Dudley do moon base 3 theme too.....?
