I guess with the invention of 3d printing, it would now be possible to print a teleport bracelet ?
all you would have to do is fit a hinge & paint it.
I wonder if anyone with the skill will attempt this ?

Yes, that's possible.
It will take about 100 burning hours for the liquid printer.

I have no idea what that means, but I'm glad it would be possible !!

There are different kind of procedures for printing 3d. ( last week I just was in negotiation to take over such a machine, a small home printer, for a theatre company)
A relative small object like a teleport bracelet can be done with liquid thermoplastic instead of the much more expensive hard material.
It takes time to build an object and I think the teleport bracelet needs about 100 hours to complete.
Here is an introduction to 3d printing:

It's not a teleport bracelet but you can buy 3D printed models of B7 spaceships on Shapeways, a website for 3D modellers to sell their wares.

It's been mentioned on another thread recently, but have a look at admiralducksauce's other models too: Click here.

I'd argue that with the time it takes to produce a 3D printed part not to mention the cost of the 3D printer itself, it would actually be cheaper to manufacture it with the materials.

However, if your talking Scorpio teleport bracelet well that might be a slightly different story.

Thank you for mentioning this. I'm tempted ... the small Libby would be a nice christmas tree decoration. (Well, my christmas tree decoration is a bit unusual in any case ... I have already a red hippo and two Malayan tapirs.)

Don't forget, the quality of the print depends on the quality of the printer, not all 3D prints are created equal.

I have some doubts on those items that are only shown as renders. Either they are only being sold as the data to run a printer from, or they are probably low quality prints.

Other items have obvious layers to them, but without a decent item, such as a ruler, in the shot, you really don't have much idea as to the scale and therefore how big a problem this will be.
"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics, and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Well, here we go again. Another model of the Libby, brought to you by the same guy as before. If I read it right, this one is only a foot long and made by someone called Gary Welsh.
Yours for £500.
Item number is 141257181756
It even comes with a model of the London.

Maybe 20 years from now, it would be possible to 3D print a teleport bracelet. However, if you’re really into jewellery making, 3D printing is the ideal technology. You can freely customize your designs and utilize different kinds of materials you desire. Actually, we are experimenting 3d2print’s T-glase filament for custom made necklace, pins, bracelets and pendants. If your wedding ring was lost or stolen, 3D printing will help you reinvent it.

There's a Comet kit up on there at the mo, and I'm pinning my hopes on winning that. I don't feel too optimistic, however...

Sue, there's this kit on eBay, part-built with bits missing, might be a go-er!

It might look a bit ... err ... "Terminal", but all the main bits are there, you'd just need some thin wire and something to replace the "solar panels" (the brasswork that came with the kit wasn't the greatest, especially the "prongs" for the fronts of the pods).

Yes, it's all Mat's fault, get him to do it!! Grin

Hope you get it Sue, I know you've been after one for ages!

One thing that would be worth doing (something I didn't do on mine) is to pin the gun pod arms on to the main hull, as the joints are flat ... that's what has happened to the one in the auction!

It doesn't finish until Tuesday......but I'll give it a go anyway.
Hmm......how about blue tack or double sided sticky tape? That worked for Blue PeterGrin

I've been looking at that myself- I've been outbid on every single Liberator on ebay so far- that's four of the darn things I've not been able to get. I thought a half-built rescue job would be more in my price range, and I already have ideas of how I'd go about most of it. Looks like I'll be outbid again judging by the interest here... Sad

It's up to 6.80 now and only a few days to go.
I wouldn't be able to do any thing major with this model as I'm not a model maker....I'm more than happy to step aside SC...at least I know that it will go to someone who will look after it.

Thank you LS- it's certainly a popular model when it pops up there! I'll see what happens now- wouldn't be surprised if I get gazumped when I step in! I had similar problems trying to get my hands on Comet Miniatures Daleks, although persistence paid off eventually. Sevans kits of the same need a mortgage!

Well, I managed to win that one- just. I'll stand aside for all future ones, although I'll keep a look out and post anything I see for you guys here- thanks again, Littlesue.

On the off chance, did anyone take a colour scan of the transfer sheet for the Comet libby when they bought it? I have printable transfer sheet, so a straightforward print of the existing sheet would save a lot of work for this project- if not, no worries, I'll transpose and try to re-scale the images from the Horizon blueprints.
