Lurena what a great, personal report and Mistletoe such an honest heartfelt one. Lovely pic of you and Mr D.

Thanks Annie Grin I thoroughly enjoyed reading your report too and genuinely lol'ed at the following: '... our team's disturbingly competitive desire to win.' It wasn't even about the Golden Libby (which looks great) - I just really wanted to win! Oh, well ... another time! Wink I'm glad your hubby had fun and pleased you mentioned Mrs Olag Gan's button pushing costume - she looked amazing!

And Lurena, your enthusiasm showed in every word I read in your report. It was lovely meeting you and hopefully we'll have a chance to talk properly at a different event. Grin

Thanks to all the contributors, and apologies for the delay in publication.

Three very different reviews, which capture the event perfectly between them.

Lurena's is very much from the heart, and it was great that she was able to experience such an event. It's the first time we met, but hopefully not the last. These events are as much as a meet-up as anything else.

Annie gives a good overview of the plusses and minuses of the day (how much queueing was it?? Grin ), while Mistletoe's is honest and analytical, especially the list of suggestions.

I have to say my own personal appreciation of CA2 soared after the sad loss of Gareth less than a week after the event. It made me appreciate having just a little time in the presence of the guests and how precious that is. Thanks to CA1, I met Gareth Thomas one last time. He was a delightful gentleman.

Ian worked so hard with CA2. As long as the key lessons are learnt for CA3 to place less emphasis on photos and autographs, and more emphasis on panels (don't cut them short!!!) and anything that involves guest/fan interaction, and not to overload the con with too many guests, then I think CA3 will be a roaring success.

RTGP3 was a perfect con. Clare got the balance perfect for what she was trying to achieve.

Hopefully CA3 will prove the same. In any case, whatever the con is like, I'm sure the weekend will be a delight again. And this time, we'll come up with a much more ingenious way of stealing the Golden Libby Grin

TT I wrote the report very soon after getting back. I think I would have written it differently if I had known how very ill Gareth was and that we were so soon after to lose him. I winced a little at its cheery tone because joy of the event was overshadowed by the sad aftermath.

It must be so difficult to get the numbers of guests right. I assume a portion of attendees will be attracted by the fact of an unusual guest list, perhaps because they've been to lots of conventions and already know the stars. Making sure you cover costs by attracting enough people let alone making a profit must be a nightmare.

For me it seems to work best at these events when autographs take place in one room, while talks take place in another ( allowing for flexibility) but that might put up costs so much that the whole thing becomes non viable.

The Blakes 7 Panel at Big Finish Day 8
reported and transcribed by Susan Bowden.

This panel took place at Big Finish Day 8, in January 2016. Everyone in attendance was thrilled to learn there would be more Blake’s 7, starting with Liberator Chronicles Volume 12.

Obviously, we didn’t know at the time that within months we were to lose Gareth Thomas. The devastating news hit everyone hard, including Big Finish. Plans were put on hold a second time out of respect for Gareth, and Cavan Scott, ending his tenure as producer of the Blake’s 7 range, moved onto other projects.

But on 16th January 2016, the panel and audience were full of optimism for the future of Blake’s 7 at Big Finish...

Absolutely fascinating to read, Anniew, I couldn't even begin to dissect such a complicated character...well now, why is it that some ladies on this forum seem to have fallen for such a chap that evening back on Monday, 9th Jan 1978? Grin
