What does anyone think of that look on Avon's face when he lowers his eyes and gets the gun. Then his face goes still.
Now he's calling after Vila as if Vila were his dog. Like he's ever used that tone before.

All together now for a jolly singalong.... "There's A Distant Star, in a Distant Sky..."

Hey Vila, why aren't you joining in Grin

Of course Egrorian could have hidden the bit of plastic and succeeded in his plan, but no, leave it on the floor for Avon to find.

Sorry you can't join in. It's still afternoon where I'm at, so the party hasn't started yet.

At least Avon throws the tachyon funnel away before he tries to get rid of Vila ... Jayne in Firefly threw his partner out of the shuttle in order to keep his loot.

Everyone seems to blame Avon for hunting Vila at the end. We should be blaming Orac. He put that notion in Avon's mind!

Yes! That's why I think Jenna was right and Blake was wrong in Space Fall. I think Blake put that idea in Avon's head, and Avon quickly worked out that it wasn't a viable plan, but smiled at Blake for thinking it!

The plot is laughable, that escape velocity is calculated to the last kilo, and the neutron particle is left out in the open.

But the performances all around make it worth while, especially Paul and Michael in those last scenes.

I think this reflects his inner conflict: logic says that he has to sacrifice Vila, but he is not really prepared to do it. Hence his silly 'dog-calling' voice that seems to be a hidden warning.

That was so effectively done. Not only was the script a cracker, but the actors took it and run with it. Kudos to the director as well.

And if Vila had betrayed Avon like that, Vila would be dead!

I was 11 or so and saw it in the 80s. I think it scarred me for life!

I think that's being too charitable. I think the voice is part of his mental downward spiral that began with his OTT laughter at the end of 'Gold'.

I agree. Avon isn't being nice at all. That is how Avon speaks when he is 'acting'. The evidence is there in Assassin.

Avon is out to kill Vila. It's only when he finds the block, he finds a better solution.
