based on Kneales the Creature, BBC, also brill, lost story, also Cushing, got Belgian poster. Have you read the Road? And Chopper, brilliant lost scripts of his

That makes sense. I love Kneale. He understood how to scare people on a primeval level. It explains the film's attitude to the snowcritters - these are not 2 dimensional monsters. And no, I haven't come across those stories. I think he is overdue a reprint or 3. Which reminds me I have a dvd called The Crunch based on 3 of Kneale's stories. Not watched it yet.

Me too, the Crunch! Just got it! The scripts are in the year of the Sex olympics book, I think, think they were extras on something too

Getting ready to watch Strangers on a Train on TCM Movies this afternoon at 1.30 starring Robert Walker Senior. Absolutely mesmerising actor to watch. He died far too young.

And well matched by Farley Granger. Robert Walker was able to go from light roles to play twisted characters like this.

Well so much for TV listings..it wasn't the one with the Rocking Horse...but I was still in floods of tears.
Maybe next week. Dearest hasn't seen it when it was on in the afternoon, but I was very red eyed when he came home that day!!!!

Yes, the same here. The moment that chap started crying and apologising I was reaching for the tissues. I don't know if you saw the one with the elderly man who had an old radio that he and his late wife had bought when they first met. The guys fixed it and the local radio station played the old man's song and he just broke up...then Jay Blades went round and hugged the man. One of the most moving things I've ever seen on TV.

I think it is a very special and brilliant piece of television. Really understated, no manipulation: if you want to blub, you can or you can have a smile on your face instead. Those people are artists. Wonderful stuff.

Orca, a VERY bleak man-versus-beast drama from 1977 starring Richard Harris and featuring a score by Ennio Morricone (grazie, maestro). The best way I can describe it is half Jaws, half Moby Dick.

One Spare Part
Blimey, I forgot all about Orca.

The File of the Golden Goose, a 1969 crime drama starring Yul Brynner (who would have turned 100 this year) and the late great Edward Woodward. It is a loose remake of a 1947 thriller/documentary entitled T-Men. YB is really the only reason to watch this otherwise forgettable movie (EW doesn't get that much screen time and the plot is a bit sluggish and inconsistent).

Well...I'm set up for this tea time and tomorrow's tea time...just like I was back when my dear old dad came home with that black and white TV set in 1963..tonight on Talking Pictures at 5.30..The Adventures of Sir Lancelot with William Russel. Now I saw this in 63 so I must have been watching the repeats even back then!!!
And then, tomorrow at the same time. THE show that I always watched at tea time on a Sunday (and it was usually raining back then,) The Adventures of Robin Hood with Richard Green.
I'm all set!!!
