Oh crumbs....Twelve hours was in fact Episode 13 of The Champions...I was just so excited about the Headgear as worn by Sharron in the next episode this morning...The Headscarf..sorry, I meant The Search!!
So, after a bike ride round the Wii Island and finding all 27 flags, I went on the Sedgedway...I cannot get that last balloon on the back of that mole...ho hum, maybe tomorrow...
So, anyway, after all that excitement, The Headscarf Episode.
First question, how did Reginald Marsh fit through the Sub's hatch with that rather portly tum of his? And then he changed into a rather fetching roll top white knitted jumper and an overcoat and still managed to climb out of the hatch to outside of the conning tower...the magic of television I guess.
Interesting that one of the crewmen at the start is reading about the Kennedy's in a magazine.
Shifty John Woodvine, complete with dodgy German accent, got into the Naval base at Holy Loch, shot the poor sailor on duty then killed the others on board that Sub (S49 according to the stock shots) with gas...then all the baddies, including portly Reg, arrive via underwoater gear to get the sub and off they go. Lovely shots of a Sub moving through the water, going through ice, diving under the ice and then resurfacing near Heliogoland.
We also see the same shots, earlier of sailors getting the sub ready...as per the previous episode. Twelve Hours
Craig and Sharron go to Heligoland or is it Denmark? Tremayne's office map seems to have changed a bit since the last scene.
Craig and Sharron, minus THE headscarf follow Mr Woodvine, lose him and then Craig tells Sharron to go back and report to Tremayne (no Grandson...they didn't have mobiles then!!)...and then Craig gets shot!
Richard in London is having a crafty smoke. senses something is wrong and despite Tremayne's protestations, goes to Helio/Denmark.
The village inn where everyone meets up is another superb example of the set dresser's art on this series...yes, THAT staircase is there and one of Mr A J Van Montagu's murals adorns the outside of the bedrooms.
Richard now assumes a dodgy German accent as he and Sharron take the scientist to the Sub and at last...THAT Headscarf puts in an appearance! Yay. And a lovely headscarf it is too.
Sharron has obviously learnt her lesson from the last episode and is now wearing slacks and sensible shoes as she and the other cast members clamber up THAT Conning tower (complete with wind and rain blowing all over it).
Needless to say, our heroes save the day and Sharron helps out by kicking the gun from the baddie's hand. Go girl!!!
Quite a nail biting finale as Craig works out how to change the Polaris missile's route (and all without a calculator to boot).
A nicely paced episode...I wonder what became of that HEADSCARF??? Grin

Not to worry, it's The Gilded Cage tomorrow...I don't think a headscarf makes an appearance in that one....

language sparepart. I know where the headscarf is, together with Alexandras note to me...neeeuurrgghh! Seriously I am so chuffed to have it, she wrote to me in the last year of her life, and I had no idea she was so poorly. She was a lovely lady, and sorely missed. My firstborn daughter is called Alexandra, and I loved the name from the moment I heard it/saw it on the credits, so regal. She was so touched to hear that!

It's great to have something with lovely memories attached to it. Puts a smile on your face when you're feeling glum. Grin

Today, it's Richard's episode 'The Gilded Cage'.
In which Mike Reid shows he is not much good as a security guard, Tremayne gets thacked by Ensor Jnr. who in turn gets thacked out of the door by Richard!
Sharron takes a back seat in this one, but what a back seat. Clad in a pink bikini (steady chaps), she manages to get Craig to remember the number plate of the van used by Ensor Jnr and co to kidnap Richard.
Fashion historians should have a field day with this one. The delightful Samatha wears mini skirts and capes and crocheted dresses...and Richard is mesmerised (and more, but this is a family show).
We learn that Richard likes classical music i.e. The Four Seasons played on a stereogram, rather like the Phillips one that my dear old Dad had at home back in the 60s; he chills in his apartment with said music blaring out (his neighbours must love him!) and loves cool grey cardies. The set dresser went mad on this apartment, I loved the stone wall decorations, unless Richard nicked them from some museum or other.
They also went mad with the 'cage', a room with some really way out statues. The one of Pan, complete with horns, would give anyone nightmares!!!
Craig impersonates a central heating salesman and sounds and looks a bit like Clark Kent.
And there are pigeons...being craftily thrown at the barred window until Mr Gaunt actually catches one. I wonder how long that take took?!!!!
And then to top it all, there is a lovely performance by John Carson, suave, sophisticated, smooth...I'm just trying to imagine him with Scott Fredericks as Carnell. I think they would have been so smooth, they would have slid off the screen!
PS: No pigeons were harmed in the making of this episode!Grin

The Champions episode Shadow of the Panther...this time it's Sharron's episode, yay!
And who is this charmer? Why a very young Donald Sutherland. He seems nice enough...but Oh no he isn't!
Once again, Sharron shows us ladies how to deal with unwanted attention (in the form of the hotel manager and one of the waiters) Yay, go girl.
Once again, 60's fashion on show...anyone for a crocheted dress?
One of my favourite scenes in this...just after Richard has grappled with Sharron (whom he thinks is under the 'fluence) she says, "Really, what a pick up line!"
And to Craig who had a near miss with a gunshot as he lay on his bed.."You should see my pillow, " he says.
"Craig, what are you suggesting?" says Sharron.
Most of the bit part actors, or the regular supporting actors, turn up in this episode, as do the stock shots of the Caribbean: waves on the shore, palm trees along the sea front...that sort of thing.
And just how does Sharron keep her hair up like that? Methinks if Sharron and Soolin could ever get together, they'd have a fab time discussing hair do'sGrin

Alex's fave story, and mine of hers too! I love the scenes of those machete wielding dignitaries stalking the corridors, like something out of an Amicus anthology, that percussive brain wash, and a very young DS!
