Very interesting to read that OSP and Klenotka both agreed with my view in the division in the two halves of the final BSG season - if you were to read online reviews the majority seem to swing in the other direction. I have stormed through the third series of The Two Ronnies this weekend. A major improvement on the first two series, it is starting to hit its stride now. Interesting to note that regular contributors were various members of the Monty Python and The Goodies teams. Anyway, a new series about to start, albeit one I have seen before. I am heading to Essex, Chigwell in fact, to join two sisters and their man hungry next door neighbour. |

I had to think about that one having only watched a couple of series of...birds of a feather! Am watching a sitcom about people in a flat living above other people in a flat.

I never read reviews because I generally disagree. And I am not sure who were these people because as a part of a big sci-fi fandom here, BSG was a big hit among fans here, had its programme at conventions and most of us agreed that the second half really was weaker (the fandom here really was not that big so I knew pretty much everybody ![]() ![]() Donīt be Lasagne

I've just got to the Survivors episode with the great Clifford Evans in it (he'd made a fab B7 guest actor), the first of a few episodes that deal with the Nazis and World War 2. BTW, they also get involved with a Sub later on. I spent a few hours giving a history lesson to Grandson when he watched this back in 2010, or thereabouts. Trying to explain that the Champions was made in 1969, about 24 years after WW2. I also spent a great deal of time explaining why they had to keep stopping at Telephone boxes (no mobile phones), drinking and driving and also no seat belts! Plus the lack of laptops and computers in general..sigh, it was a long history lesson. Edited by littlesue on 11 February 2019 15:18:43 Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold. I would love to watch some of these old shows with a young un - it would be like a social history lesson. All the old tech as you say, how women were treated both in life and as an actor, lack of safety when filming...the list goes on. I would love to get all those episodes of the Saint where the same white car goes over the same white cliff...magic moments! The only show you couldn't do this on would be The Prisoner which is still so eccentric that it is almost timeless. "We're in the centre of a mystical convergence here."

Wow. Not seen Man About The House in years. There was a period of time when I was much younger that Friday nights on Channel 4 consisted of Man About The House, Cheers and then I think Drop The Dead Donkey. It was a comedy bonanza for me at the time. |

Drop was awesome. We still use some of the catchphrases from the show..."A child's teddy bear", "a blood stained sneaker" and several Gus-isms..."Now we're cooking with charcoal." Every so often this sketch turns up as being a real report on drugs.. https://www.youtu...bXYnisZP9c Dimbles https://www.youtu...LZ1LT0kd-4 I used to be such a sweet sweet thing

Drop the dead donkey....I have cried laughing at that show. Makes a point and makes you laugh. The modern equivalents don't tend to be heavy on the laughs.

The only show you couldn't do this on would be The Prisoner which is still so eccentric that it is almost timeless. That Mark 1 white Jag was first used in an episode of the Baron. They took the wreck back to the studio..then discovered just how much that shoot had cost...so, whenever a baddie gets into a white jag in any ITC show, over that cliff it will go. BTW, it was B7's favourite port of call that was used; Betchworth Quarry. On a location visit last year I was trying to figure out exactly where that bit of cliff was, but it's all changed there now. You will also see a red car go over the same cliff sometimes!!! Yes Grandson was quite surprised at how Craig and Richard treated Sharron especially in To Trap a Rat when they told to her to look after the car. Grandson hit the roof "But she's got the same powers as they have. What's up with them?" I pointed out that they were merely being gentlemen and that always happened back then in the 60s. (I'll always find an excuse...somehow!!!!!) BTW, on a visit to the Prisoner's location in Wales, Port Meirion, I ran off across the beach shouting I am not a number etc....Grandson cringed; he had no idea what I was doing! Even aged 16, now, I don't think he will understand The Prisoner at all!!!! Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
