Who plays the definitive version of Avon?

Avon, one of the true icons of British TV Science Fiction.

But who played your favourite Avon?

Spaceship Dispatcher
Well, Michael Keating obviously! Michael did say that was the definitive interpretation Grin
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Blake's 7: Trojan Horse (s4 fanfic) - Blake's 7: Through the Needle's Eye (s2 fanfic)

Spaceship Dispatcher's fanfic site

President Solvite
Mark Heap - Blake's Junction 7

Its the tossing of the cake tongs that clinched it for me. An honoury mention to Avon's working of the coffee machine and the subsequent exchange with Jenna.

I think Mark's portrayal is the most accurate of what Avon should have been a slightly tetchy, a little inept computer techie.

He did. And he's taken an early lead. Grin

I'm wondering whether to put a closing date on this poll as well.

I think I will. This poll closes at 12.00 noon GMT today... Wink

Can I nominate Gareth Thomas? Gareth played the role of Avon in "Fiddler on the Run", a humorous play put on at the Event Horizon con in 1993. (The script for the play can be found in the big black 'Opus' edition of fanzine 'Enarrare'.)

As Avon has to come on directly from his shower, Gareth arrived on stage wearing a towel and a t-shirt with the legend 'WELSHMEN DON'T WEAR UNDERPANTS'.

The poll has closed and the clear winner with 60% of the vote is....

Mr Michael Keating Grin

Only kidding Meegat, Lurena and Littlesue, the poll hasnít really closed.

In all fairness, Paul Darrow made the role his own (even though - here's a bit of trivia - Michael Keating was the original choice for Avon, but he found the role of Vila more true to his real-life persona).

Paul still nails the character nearly forty years later. Avon is clearly the role Paul was born to play. I am not a die hard PD fan, but there is really no room for discussion here, even as parody.

You mean Avon isn't real? God, first the tooth fairy, then Father Christmas and now this. Gutted!

LOL. Avon is real, don't believe the lies! Happy

Is there a clip on YouTube or something of Micheal Keating at Pryton Hall? I'd like to see his impression of Avon.
Paul Darrow will always be the definitive Avon for me though, since he helped flesh out the character, it's only fair.

Oh, Michael Keating, hands down. His 'definitive' Avon at Pyrton Village Hall was breathtaking! What a guy! Grin

Thanks Panna. That's a relief! Returning to the matter in hand, in that case the definitive Avon is Avon! Accept no imitations however amazing!

Check out this RTGP 'teaser' which shows Gareth Thomas and Michael Keating recreating the scene from Terminal, at Pyrton Hall. On the Sunday of the con, we all traveled to Pyrton Village Hall, the site of the original filming of the scene and it was lovingly recreated by our actors, Michael stepping up and portraying Avon, as Paul could not attend. It was amazing!

I'm afraid I have to go with Mr D - he is the one, and only, as far as I'm concerned.

Predictable, I know - but what can you do? His indelible imprint on my psyche in my tender formative years means I can accept no other.
