what tunes are you listening to?

I think I've reached a new low - I can't stop playing this space rock cover of the Nyan Cat theme...

....Like Clockwork by QOTSA. Probably their best album.

Joe Dredd
"Alien for Christmas" - a cover of a Fountains of Wayne song some mates of mine used to do in their band The Coopers. The FoW version is a bit sedate but they rocked theirs up a bit... it's like comparing "Substitute" by the Who to the cover version by the Pistols.

"I want an alien for Christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I wanna little green guy about three feet high
with seventeen eyes who knows how to fly
I want an alien for Christmas this year!"

Festive, SF, and a bit of fun!

Tubeway army, Gary Numans first album

Spaceship Dispatcher
Have not listened to any music for quite a while, but the last CDs I did purchase a couple of months ago were the movie soundtrack albums for Inside Out and Pitch Perfect 2...
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Listening to our three 'It isn't Christmas until we've heard these' Christmas songs...

Hardrock Coco And Joe
I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas.
You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch.

"A Winter's Tale" by Queen - rather appropriate, I think Smile

Now listening to the soundtrack to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive RPG "Phantasy Star 4: The End of the Millennium" - upon its original release in 1994, the retail price was in excess of 80 (about $100 in the US).

Nik Kershaw season for me - favourites include "The Riddle" and "Wouldn't It Be Good?", along with his work as a session vocalist (most notably with Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks on his solo albums, including the tracks "Red Day on Blue Street", "I Wanna Change the Score" and "The Final Curtain" ).

I like Nik Kershaw, good video for the riddle

Joe Dredd
"Credit Blast", the choon Justin Greaves composed for "Future Shock - The Story of 2000AD", a documentary about the long-running British comic. It just chugs.

I watched the documentary and got the music stuck in my head; prior to that I couldn't shake "Livin in the 70s" by Skyhooks -

"I'm living the 70s
Eating fake food under plastic trees
My face gets dirty just walkin' around
I need another pill to calm me down"

World/Inferno Friendship Society - they did an album based on the life of the actor Peter Lorre called Addicted to Bad Ideas and the whole thing is gold.

iTunes now has a Star Wars channel, so I've been listening to a ton of John Williams film scores.

Binge-listening to The Beautiful South and loving the contrast of sweet singing and boppy tunes with the often sad and cynical outlook in the lyrics.

I edited one of their videos!
Pretenders to the Throne

It wasn't as much fun as I'd anticipated though - it had all been storyboarded in advance, and my role was only to operate the editing equipment and assemble the rushes in the order they'd decided. I had no creative input at all. Sad
