System Chase Craft scratch build
I've finally found the time to get round to this after staring at the parts for what seems like years.
Thanks to Mr Exterminator, I had all the right parts and it's not too difficult to put together.
Just got the rear ring to build up then it should be ready for painting.

If anyone's built one before, I'd be glad of any hints and recommendations for painting and weathering a white model! That's the one part I'm not really looking forward to Smile

Looks awesome so far.

Would like to do one of these one day.

I hear you about weathering a white model, it will be very unforgiving, everything shows up!

Luvvly jubbly! It's really looking the part!

As you know, I've got some experience doing the paint jobs on my Liberator and System Chase Craft. I used Halfords primers, grey and white, they're a nice, consistent matt finish. In all cases, I sprayed the whole thing white, went crazy with the masking tape (I think it was just over 1000 little squares on the Liberator!) and sprayed everything with grey primer.

When the masking tape comes off, it looks very contrast-y, so the final stage was to give everything a light misting of white primer to tone it all down.

I even used this method on a Comet Liberator, only a few hundred absolutely tiny squares of tape ... quite an eye - crosser!

"There it is!"
Thanks Andy & Phil Smile
My first attempt at weathering a white model (the London) wasn't exactly an unqualified success so it's helpful to hear how other people tackle it.

It's further complicated as I don't really care for the weathering on the original studio Chase Craft models so I will probably take the best bits of the two originals. And take it nice and slow.

Deep breath… will keep you posted!
