Blake's 7 Quotes
Panna
One of my favorite lines from Space Fall is from Avon, "Execution may have some appeal after all."
"You'd never get a cat to be a servant. You ever see a cat return a stick? "Hey, man! You threw the stick, you go get it yourself! I'm busy! If you wanted the stick so bad, why'd you throw it away in the first place?"

Panna
"With a ship like this and a full crew-then we can start fighting back."
Why did Blake tell Avon that?

That's actually a good question. It's not often that Blake actually did try to destroy pursuit ships, he would mostly try and outrun them. This would support the theory that Blake was preserving life where possible and only destroying strategic targets. Except in Mission to Destiny at the end, but they weren't federation personnnel.
"If you didn't want the answer, you shouldn't have asked the question."

Agreed! Humorous and ironic!Wink

my fave is, "my god, I've forgotten how to read..."

Panna
That's one of the most chilling lines in the series IMHO.

I find it more likely he was operating on the principle of risk / reward. Why risk Liberator against pursuit ships? Destroying a few pursuit ships won't accomplish anything.

I agree with you. I cannot remember a time that I could not read. My spelling is starting to fail me (I tend to keep a dictionary around now, or rely on the comp. to spot an error), but I think I would be terrified to pick a book up and not know what those marks on the page meant.
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

As a writer and musician, that is probably the ultimate nightmare for me.

For me, the favourite quotes would be these (my top 5).

1. Blake: "No, I'm coming back." - The Way Back
2. Avon: "Make me die. There's nothing you can make me do." - Sarcophagus
3. Vila: "You should be careful about getting second-hand spacecraft. They can be very unreliable." - Terminal
4. Gan: "I'm not worth dying for!" (last words) - Pressure Point
5. Tarrant: "He sold us, Avon. All of us... even you." - Blake

"Sooner or later we're going to go into one of these holes in the ground and never come out.."
"-.sooner or later everyone does that, Vila..."

"I have never understood why it is considered necessary to become irrational in order to prove that you care, or indeed why it is necessary to prove it at all..."

That's one of my favourite quotes too Happy
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Grade Four Ignorant
My favourite exchange, from Killer.

Vila: You don't have a lot of time for Blake, do you?

Avon: I could never stand heroes.

Vila: A quarter of a million volts and you're putting your hand in?

Avon: Ah, but that is self interest, we need that crystal. Blake takes risks to help other people, sometimes people he doesn't even know. One day that great big bleeding heart of his will get us all killed.

Vila: Unless somebody ditches him first.

One of my favourites has always been this exchange between Avon and Vila in Bounty:

VILA: I'm entitled to my opinion.

AVON: It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.

Paul Darrow's meticulous diction is just the icing on the cake...

Panna
Avon tells Blake, "Careful," in Cygnus Alpha. The next minute he's waiving a gun at him. One minute he's concerned the next he's threatening. Crazy from the beginning perhaps.
"You'd never get a cat to be a servant. You ever see a cat return a stick? "Hey, man! You threw the stick, you go get it yourself! I'm busy! If you wanted the stick so bad, why'd you throw it away in the first place?"

That remark from Avon sums up all that is wrong with the internet and modern society!

"I have always trusted you...from the very beginning."
When I first heard that I thought: Yeah, right!
I thought maybe Blake was telling a white lie in case they all got killed in the battle.

In my opinion I think Blake meant that line exactly..

Whether it is a compliment or not could be open to interpretation. I think Avon took it as such, with his insistence on following Blake's wish to hold the line at Star One to give Federation forces time to muster a defense. Possibly with a secondary motive in that an eliminated Federation would not be a desirable place to spend the wealth he was intending to get, now the Liberator was virtually his!

It is a great line though bringing the second season to a close with that tense final Liberator flight deck shot

Panna I always thought Blake meant they could fight back against the system that had imprisoned them all.

Fav line?

It's an old wall, Avon. It waits.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

I always thought Blake meant it, too. And that Avon believed that Blake meant it.
