I have successfully edited, mixed and mastered an audio recording of the event (anyone present would have noticed me walking around with my Yamaha Pocketrak PR7 portable digital audio recorder and wearing Samson CH700 headphones during the panels to monitor the recordings, which is why I was virtually silent for most of the day - what little I did speak was mainly in Japanese due to my college course). It's in stereo and runs for just under two hours, with each segment interspersed with a brief narration by me. The end of each segment is punctuated by the last two chords of the B7 theme tune (F major, B major), which I also play on my synthesiser.

I just realised that today is Saint Francis of Assisi's Day... the Patron Saint of Italy - making it doubly special for me. Smile

An amazing day! So lovely. And that's a brilliant memory Sweevo. Special thanks to Claire, PC, and Meegat for the organisation and lifts, to Little Sue for her boot sale bargains and Ellen for my teleport bracelet ( though I'm still struggling to get Avon to bring me up!) And to everybody else for your company, models, opinions, sweets and general awesomeness.
Just because I can't sing doesn't mean I won't.

I'm just sorting out my photos and will upload to photobucket at some time, but I'd like to say thank you for all of those fans who trundled over to my stand and chatted with my Mum. Although she had no idea what was going on..other than it was a B7 get together, she had a smashing day. And Meegat...the photo that you took of June and us has come out fine and my Mum wants a copy of it because she loved it when June told her what lovely hair she had!

Well I'm now in my surface gear and ready for the mission to destiny, i.e. I'm awake and breakfasted! LOL

It was a truly fantastic day yesterday, there has been praise galore, so I would just like to take a moment to thank everyone who came along to make the event go with a buzz! The hall was filled with chatter, laughter and admiration at the exhibits on display.

Our special guests all commented that they were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. Smile I shall be sending a message of thanks to each of them for their efforts and contribution to the day.

I think in truth it was a real collaborative effort, but I would like to embarrass a few people by mentioning by name Smile

Andy and Phil - your displays were, as always, something to behold and Phil's Liberator console was truly spectacular and made me realise just how big the originals must have been! A triumph gents and Phil I can't wait to see the finished set piece sometime in the future! Smile And not forgetting Karyn for helping to set up and standing on duty whilst Andy was busy elsewhere.

Andy - your contributions to the event are also noted in the quiz and the fan discussion session, including all the preparation that went into it. Thank you also to Scott and Travisina for your help Smile We had lots of entries for the quiz and the fan panel was most entertaining and at times thought provoking. It certainly exceeded my expectations and I now thank each of the panellists, Brad, Travisina, AnnieW and TT for your willingness to sit up in front of us all and present your varied pieces so wonderfully! Thank you folks! Smile

Gary - your costume display was superb and I marvelled at the way June Hudson commented on how well they are being cared for Smile From my hot desk I was able to observe a number of people, many of whom I had not met before, stand and admire your display and I could see them pointing and saying, oh that was from such and such an episode. The costumes were clearly bringing back memories for these folks which was lovely to see.

Sue - excellent display of memorabilia from your personal collection. I hope you had a steady stream of folks taking interest, alas I had my back to your display a lot of the time, but I was aware of people chatting behind me. I'm grateful when people like you are willing to bring things along to put on display as it all helps to add value to the event. Thank you Sue and Sue's Mum! Smile

Supreme Commander Diane - thank you for bringing the Horizon merchandise. Like Sue's display these things all help to boost the event, particularly those who were new visitors and who may not be members of Horizon, but now may consider joining. I would also like to thank you for bringing Mistletoe12 (it was a pleasure to meet you again btw!) with you and to offer my thanks to her for assisting with your setting up.

Thank you to Brad and Paula, Lorna, Hazel, SD, TT and Travisina who came along and helped us to set everything up. There was a lot of discussion as to where best to locate chairs and the like, but we got there in the end and it all worked fine, despite our wrangling over blocking fire exits!! Thank you people, your efforts are greatly appreciated Smile

Fiona, Fiona's Mum & Anthony - thank you's all round for the catering, organising the venue, providing biccies and cake! Yum! The lunches for the guests were top notch, so please do feed that back. The washing up must have been a monumental task, so well done Fiona's mum! Thumbs up to Anthony for generally helping out and fetching and carrying Smile
Fiona - you were instrumental in helping with the event planning and being there to bounce ideas off and generally being a star!

And last, but certainly not least, Scott, who was also instrumental in the planning of the event and indeed in helping get the 'nuts and bolts' into place, without which none of it could happen. Thank you also for helping to record the event, I'm sure we can all look forward to viewing the various video clips you and Andy were making in due course, that will act as a permanent reminder of the good time we all had yesterday.

So a big round of applause to everyone, great team effort and I'll post in due course how much we've raised for charity! Hip Hip! Hooray!!! Smile Grin

*EDIT* Thank you also to President Solvite and Angry Angel for looking after the guests during the day Smile

I'm back!

So to more thank you's....

Thank you to June Hudson and the lovely lady who accompanied her, both of whom were gracious, generous with their time and willingness to talk to people. June was just amazing during the panel session and really gave an insight into the life of a TV/film/theatre costume designer. Even if that means working with black leather and rubber occasionally!

Thank you to Nick Joseph who was a wonderfully, bouncy character and a thoroughly charming gentleman. He also gave us a fabulous insight into what it's like to be an android and blown up by the SFX team! Thankfully he survived these experiences in one piece to tell the tale!

Thank you to Vivienne Cozens, another lovely lady with a great wealth of experience from working at the BBC and elsewhere. Vivienne readily shared her memories and I hope inspired some of our attendees to perhaps have a go at film making. It's a process that has often fascinated me, though without a steady hand to hold a camera I think my efforts would look more like Earthquake! than Henry VIII!!

And I certainly could not conclude my thank you's without mentioning Ian Kubiak and his friendly assistants. Ian most kindly sponsored Vivienne Cozens for us and I am indebted to his efforts both in doing this and being the host for the guest panel session. I and I've no doubt everyone else really enjoyed this and I'm sure in time the others will join me in expressing their gratitude to Ian and co. Cheers guys and see you again at Cygnus Alpha if not before!!

And the biggest thank you of all... to Clare, the organiser of a wonderful day. There are few cons which are just "perfect"; but yesterday was one.

Hope you're enjoying a nice, relaxing day today Clare!

Hear Hear TT..

Day went perfectly in my view (pity it had to end)

June Hudson compared Gary's care of the costumes to the Victoria and Albert Museum (High praise indeed!) I think she really enjoyed the day and even joined in on the fan panel!

Cheers Clare, you mentioned another one.. where do I sign up??!! Pfft

Smile LOL Well you know it's too much to resist not doing it all again, but I need to recover from this one first! Incidentally my earlier post is now edited to include you and AA...brain not quite in gear today!

I agree, everything was just right - the venue, the atmosphere, the programming (which factored in plenty of time to relax and chat as well as fun activities and panels). Well done to everyone who made that happen!

If I could have changed one thing, it would have been that the Cherry Tree could serve food earlier than 6pm so that Supreme Commander, Mistletoe & I could have had supper with those staying on. But obviously even Paula's Welsh Street sign couldn't persuade them...

I would like to add my thanks to all who worked so hard to make the day such a success. Iím not going through all the names again, you know who you are and, whilst you may all modestly refer to the othersí efforts, you all know that The Perfect Con (copyright TT) would have been less than perfect without you. Those who persuaded, cajoled or dragooned volunteers and guests, please pass this on to them.
It hadnít been a great week for me, and I was seriously concerned that I wouldnít get there at all, but spending the day with the Horizon family and finally meeting up with some of those Iíd missed before made me a very happy rock indeed.
Btw, Sweevo, Iím sorry I didnít get to speak with you other than to say goodbye, but you were obviously very busy; to get that together and online so quickly is almost miraculous! Iím really looking forward to reliving the event through your recording, and I canít wait to see the video & photographic evidence of anything I may have missed as well.
Cool
