Good news everyone! Maintenance have managed to dial Angry Angel's personal force wall down to a much lower setting. There is still some risk, so please do not volunteer for the 7th and 9th unless you are pure of heart and have your own atomic rephasing baffle system.

That said, it's now completely safe to volunteer for the 6th, 10th, 11th or 12th!

Yes indeed she is a force to be reckoned with.. Perhaps if we construct a multi-phased energised herculanium barrier we can permit regular members to volunteer for those 'high risk dates'

As a special contingency plan I have created a activation key which will shut AA down at the slightest hint of trouble. When activated AA now flashes some lights in sequence and makes a funny humming sound. So if you're wondering SC now you know why! Grin

We've got a week and a half yet, and I'm sure between the mods and admin, we can throw a few things up on short notice.

...but we're hoping for more volunteers. Five days of my emergency poetry won't be a pretty sight!

Oh Ok. Cant say I'll do anything ground breaking (due to extreme lack of time) but I'll come up with something. I choose the 7th partly cause it's a Sunday (and I hoping that I might have a little more time available on a Sunday) and partly to prove Angry Angel doesn't have BO.

AA has a friend! It's poor Space Chopper who's looking a bit isolated now. Wink

That's great, Tyce!

Remember it doesn't have to be anything big or long or detailed. You could tell us about your favourite childhood Christmas memories, or what you are doing for the holidays this year, or how you picked your username. It could be if you're having turkey or prawns for Christmas, or not bothering, or about your favourite B7 episode, or what toy you always wanted for Christmas but never got! It doesn't even have to be about Christmas or about B7.

Speaking of Christmases past, have you ever read John Clarke's poem "A Child's Christmas in Warrnambool"? It's sort of a parody of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas, but it has some parts in it which are very evocative of a certain kind of 50s - 70s Australian Christmas.

A Child's Christmas in Warrnambool
by John Clarke

One Christmas was so like another in those years around the sea town corner now that
I can never remember whether it was 106 degrees in 1953 or whether it was 103 degrees in 1956.

Oh, the Christmases roll into one down the wave-roaring salt-squinting years of yesterboy. My hand
goes into the fridge of imperishable memory and out come... salads and sunburn lotions and the brief
exuberant hiss of beer being opened and the laugh of wet-haired youths around a Zephyr Six . The
smell of insect repellent and eucalyptus and the distant constant slowly listless bang of the fly wire door.

And resting on a formica altar waiting for 'ron: the biggest pav in the world, a magic pav, a cut-and-come-again
pav for all the children in all the towns across the wide brown bee-humming, trout-fit, sheep-rich, two-horse country.

And the aunts, always the aunts. In the kitchen, on the black and white photographed beach of the past playing
out the rope to a shared childhood caught in the undertow and drifting.

And some numerous uncles, wondering occasionally why they weren't each other, coming around the letterbox to an
attacking field in a test match and then driven handsomely by some middle order nephew, skipping down the
vowel-flattening pitch and putting the ball into the tent flaps on the first bounce of puberty.

(Do they have the expression "one for Ron" in the Podes?)

...who wanted a large man for Christmas.
She conjured a plan, to lure our boy Gan.
But Vargas found out and he nixed it.

That limerick would've been perfect.

Too bad you've used it, now you have to give us another one!

(P.S., very clever, loved the 'nixed it' rhyme.)
