Agreed. Even though I've been making fun all night, I recognise that for 1963 (and for the circumstances these guys were working under) this was actually a damn good story.

Outstanding first episode. The three cavemen episodes are then fair enough, given the whole production team was learning their trade. There is a nice sense of menace, especially the scenes in the cave. And the Doctor is no hero yet - I like that. Ian & Barbara are the moral compass. I give the first episode 10/10, the last three 7/10, and the overall four episodes 8/10. A nice, solid start.
