Has to be the one from Seasons 1-17... the original and best.

Well, there were at least 4 different compositions of the theme in the first 10 years alone!
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

I love the Davison one most Oops

Though the 1-17 theme is cheating. It did change between the Doctors.

Edited in to say I also like the Baker/Davison/Baker one (Seasons 18-22). Mainly because it takes a lot from the original, and takes the driving bass line and makes it even more prominent.

And the one from Seasons 1-17 is the same theme, just with different parts used at different times, and parts re-recorded. I'm pretty sure some of the original recording is still being used in Season 17, though.

Yes, the direction and acting have a great fluidity and cohesion about them; helped by design work that's not over ambitious.

It was re-recorded each time, and the whole arrangement was changed albeit around the same tune. But the later Pertwee theme is not simply a re-edit of the original.

Ian Reddington's choice of varying his voice according to the context of the scene worked well in his performance.

The use of a real circus tent may have been enforced on the team, but it was one of the best things that happened to the production - its one of the most realistic non-location settings ever!

If there's something that's not quite effective, its the 'argument' between the Doctor and Mags.

Delia Derbyshire's arrangement was still used, up until the "Horns Of Nimon".

http://www.radiot...s-of-nimon

Most significant of all, The Horns of Nimon sees the retirement of Delia Derbyshire's arrangement of the theme music and Bernard Lodge's vortical title sequences, which together had worked their spooky, hypnotic magic on viewers for 17 years.

Yes, he's the comic foil for Colin in one episode. He's a train spotter, who wants to be more exciting. During the course of the episode, we find he has also sorts of other outlandish hobbies, for example he takes the photos of trains from his hand glider.

But the actor (I won't try to spell it) is best known for his portrayal of Adrian Mole.

But the arrangement was varied 4 times, with different notes played! Listen to all the different themes one after the other on CD; the music is the same but the contribution and mix of the different electronic sounds changes, and there are added notes especially in the 1971 version.
