Albert Rewatch - The Way Back
trevor travis
The episode: Albert One - The Way Back
The date: Tuesday, September 16th, 2014
The time: 7.45pm UK time

Life is a bundle of fun for Roj Blake. He is the oldest of seven children born to John & Olivia in Virginia. He tells stories of family times, growing up in a rural area during the 1940s & 50s. He sees himself as a leader and advisor to his siblings. Often his parents and grandparents consult with him on family decisions.

No… wait a minute… that’s John Boy Walton isn’t it?

Let’s start again. Roj Blake lives in the dome. He is dosed on suppressants in his food and water. But one day, two friends take him outside the city, and his old mate All Bran Foster explains that once upon a time, Blake was a political leader, battling against the corrupt regime in power. Before his own eyes, his old friends are gunned down, and on return the dome, he's put on trial on trumped up charges of being a kiddy fiddler. His life will never be the same…. And neither will ours.

Meanwhile, Avon is… well not really doing anything, since he’s not in the episode. He’s out of shot, polishing his studs.

Everyone is welcome to join in the rewatch of this powerful and disturbing episode.

“Goodnight Tel Varon”
“Goodnight Maja”
“Goodnight Bran”
(This isn’t the Waltons and they don’t wake up!)

See you there.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

And after Blake's legal council enjoys a brief bedroom scene with his wife, both end up dead. Word gets around and you never see two characters in the same bedroom again, except for Jarvik, who ends up dead.

I love this darker, more political opening episode. Shame the series couldn't have continued in this vein, though probably it would of had to be shown post watershed..

Do Avon and Anna count? You don't see Avon, but you see his POV of Anna. And she ends up dead.
Then there's Vila and Kerril - does that count as a bedroom?

Well... Vila winds up dead in episode 52...
Sooner if he hadn't been Delta Grade Hide and Seek Champion.

Admittedly my theory is spoiled by Cally, who never even got a kiss, and still ends up dead.

She (sort of) kisses Avon in Sarcophagus. Well I prefer to think of it that way. Otherwise Avon is snogging an undead corpse Shock

Nope. Cally is clearly in her room. Avon kisses the alien.

A reminder that this rewatch takes place tonight. Cameras have been fitted in all your homes and we will know if you are not rewatching. The penalty for not rewatching is deportation to the penal planet Cygnus Alpha (and no, not the flight containing the dark-haired computer genius and the blonde smuggler, before you ask).

Well, that was a fantastic rewatch. Glad I could make it and didn't get sent off to Cygnus Alpha. See you all next week.

EDIT: Hmm, must be a new record for a post getting sent upstream. I was on the rewatch, really, you can't prove that I wasn't. I even have witnesses, shame they died in a transporter accident, but I have their written acknowledgements. Got to go now, I have to pick Payter, Carl, and Renor up from the clinic.

I'm just getting ready...to think, just over 36 years ago I was getting a 10 month old baby to settle; moaning about that awful film I'd just seen at the Odeon...Star Wars I think it was called and my friend Julie reminded me about the new BBC SCi Fi programme that was due to start at 6.15 on that Monday, 2nd Jan 1978. I sort of remembered that double page spread she had brought over to show me just before Xmas......
How was I to know that 50 mins later I was going to be hooked..and a certain dark haired, dark eyed computer chap hadn't even put in an appearance!!!!
Cold.....you don't know the meaning of cold.
Cold is when you have ice on the INSIDE of the window!!!

Please never do that again! It was one of those days when you wish you had stayedin bed (or had at least several pints at work), and I was really looking forward to this rewatch ... when I saw your post, I thought I had fouled up the time schedule ....
