Zukant Believe A Word You Say

"Zombies!"

"Those guards are killing them for fun? Jeez"

"Is Orac dead?"

"God everyone's so mean to Vila"

"How does she get that space helmet on?"

"This episode is really brutal"

Awesome. Thats the consensus for Warlord and I agree. Zeeona is... not annoying at all to me anymore. I was waiting for Michelle to mention something, but we were both too into the story.

This story also looks great! The pink planet, Xenon, blowing up and hot the sets look, Zukan's ship and Zeeona's death.

If any of you are wondering if Michelle recognized any of the costumes from Who.... well she still hasn't seen much of it. By not much I mean barely any.

Michelle thought this one was really violent, like the most violent one shes seen. The needless killing at the start, the killing of Zukan's people at his own hands. Mich knew Zeeona would die, but seeing the final moment was shocking. Then you have Zukan dumping his second out the airlock with the bomb and Soolin and Avon kicking ass. The story is uncompromising.

Oh Avon Avon Avon, first willing to kill Vila and now sending Zeona down knowing she'd die. He wouldn't let Tarrant go down. Michelle isn't that mad about it though, she felt bad for Vila in Orbit, also she feels for him for being the most insulted and pushed around person in the crew.

Zukan is another of those interesting characters like Crantor. Totally different, but you just want to see more of him.

The only minus's this story gets is Zeeona's hair and the daggy looking dock worker outfits that Avon and Soolin wear. Mich dug all the other costumes.

I haven't told Michelle that this is Servalan's last appearance. I didn't have the heart, but wow soooo hot.

Next up....... Battleground, but I'll put that in the spoiler section. Blake either tomorrow night or the next.

"Why did you make me watch that!"

One quote this time just straight to the point. Sheer devastation, tears, a bit of anger with me for taking her on this journey. Shock. Anger that Servalan never showed. Deeply upset that Vila does something heroic only to be shot in the back. The warrior Dayna is shot down without ever having a fighting chance. Tarrant lives through the crash landing of the Scorpio only to die.

Michelle at any time over these months could have gone online and in seconds know everything, but you can't fake a reaction like this.

Vila's death cut Michelle the deepest. He does something heroic and dies. According to her no one ever truly liked him or appreciated him and now he's dead. (I do not agree with this)

I was asked many times if Servalan was going to turn up, but I couldn't tell her otherwise I'd rick her guessing the ending. She had to experience this like most of us did. Hey she's 20! I was 9 when I saw this.

Michelle was excited to see Blake! She knew from then on that this episode would be a big fricking deal. She also liked that he explained what happened to Jenna. Until I told her he might be lying.

I look at her and I see someone who wants to hate the ending and on an emotional level she does as do I, but she agrees it makes sense. The crew had to fight hard for most of their wins and they lost a lot.

There is probably more and I'll talk to Michelle about this one for a while to come but, I'll leave it here. We will be listening to BF's mini season as they come out.

I'll give her a couple of days before the Season D rundown, and a few more before I get Michelle's definitive (at least for this watch) top 5. She is allowed to come here now, but this is not a promise. She'll read the posts though. If I can get her to join us I will.

Star Trek: The Original Series by any chance?
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Rewatched Blake last week for the first time since I saw it on the original airing. How much I have forgotten.
I think first time round I was so overwhelmed by it being the last episode and all the signs were that it wouldn't have a happy ending(!), and the fact that I have lost loads of grey cells since then, that my rewatch was sort of like a first watch.
And it was just as brutal at the end-even knowing what was coming didn't cushion me from the reality. The Avon/Blake interchange at the end was so powerful, and tragic.
On balance I think that Avon was taken away by the Federation soldiers, unharmed because of the bounty on his head, and that he wouldnt have gone down in a blaze of glory and bullets because Avon's strength is his logic. I know that his actions had become more bizarre in series 4, and he had just witnessed his friends gunned down, but I think the clever cunning side would have surfaced and he would have bided his time and looked for a chance to escape, rather like we saw him doing on the London when he first appeared.

And there, in a nutshell, you have the reason why we're all here. Poor Michelle, I really feel for her. Just keep the wine flowing and she'll get through.

I agree with you that Vila was appreciated by the crew but his 'death' seemed the most unfair of all to me when I first watched this episode (which was only last October, by the way). Even though I knew what was going to happen, how it happened to him hurt much more than Blake's execution, probably because he and Avon had always been my top 2, with poor old Blake way down behind Orac & Zen and behaving like such a pillock in that episode.

Thank goodness she doesn't! The ending is powerful enough; imagine Servalan then flouncing in, all triumphant. I think my 8-year-old self would have been even more upset back in 1981.

"Blake" is a Blake / Avon thing. The introduction of Servalan into the episode would undermine that. As it is, it's a simple misunderstanding; an avoidable tragedy. A big Servalan masterplan would change it into something completely different.

Meanwhile, I do feel for Michelle. We've all been there; the first time we watched "Blake".

Hearts out to Michelle - brought back all those old memories - hey not only were we kids - it was Christmas!

@Annagrant - I've always believed by this time, Avon was so worn down and struggling that death would be not only inevitable but welcomed. Particularly after shooting Blake... but that is the fun of B7 & it's characters - we all have our own take on them Wink

Well done to Michelle and really glad she liked Blake's 7 (see The Adventures With the Wife and Blake for the opposite kind of reaction - so far)

I wish I hadn't spoilt the ending years before I persuaded my partner to watch the programme.

GC - I have loved the updates and your take on the experience too.
