I liked this very much as well Anniew. There were some B7 quotes nicely worked in.
What made (makes?) you choose the present tense for the story? (if one may ask)

Anniew
So glad you liked it.

Winnie that's an interesting question. I think sometimes when I write I'm inside the character's head experiencing things as they do and then I automatically choose the present tense. ( In this case I was Villa). In other stories I'm more focussed on plot and what the action represents in terms of the struggle to win or survive or the effect it has on character relationships so I distance myself from the action using the past tense. I suppose with this story I wasn't sure how it was going to end - it sort of evolved as I wrote it and the use of the present tense reflects this. And it was Vila's POV and when I'm writing as a character the present tense feels more natural, though obviously if older Vila had been reflecting on past events he'd speak in the past tense. Hope that explains it!! It's something I feel rather than understand so it may not!

Part Two of the March Ficlet Challenge collection

The challenge was to complete the following scene:

They crouched uncomfortably under the bench. Dayna opened her mouth to speak but Tarrant silenced her with a long finger held to his lips. Her eyes widened as she heard the noise. Ears straining, holding their breath, they listened to the sound of footsteps drawing near...

@Anniew.
My first day on my own...yay!!
Just caught up with Tidings of Comfort.
Yes, I think Mr N would have had Avon in a similiar situation; in exile and forced to denounce the Federation.
Lovely to read and managed to dunk a couple of biccies in me tea as well.
