If it was a "Horizon only" event that was (relatively) small-scale, I'd doubt we'd have to worry about security, and everyone would be able to get a bit more "up close and personal" with the exhibits, rather than roping them off in case any naughty individual decided to break off a "souvenir" or run their jammy fingers over original costumes, etc. Ulysses3D wrote: Well if I win the Jackpot on lotto tonite....I'll pay for it all, and pay for other members outside UK to attend.... ![]() Hope you win - I only live in Swindon, but I expect to be driven to this event in a Rolls Royce ... !!

I agree that it's maybe a good idea to limit attendance - forum members rather than just casual viewers, if you know what I mean. A party mood rather than a covention mood = yes. I like the idea of a nice sit-down dinner, too - lovely if some of the cast could attend. My vote would be for some activities in the afternoon, followed by a nice meal and a few drinks in the bar. It would be lovely to see props and costumes, and the models that people have made. And, yes, I'd like to geek-out and be sad about the show with other fans ![]() As regards location, as some people will have to travel a hotel would be easier. |

Any thoughts about timing? December is always such a manic time, that maybe the start of S4 would be a better time than the finish. Although that isn't really the anniversary... |

Agreed about December. Everyone would be far too busy and not to mention the weather's quite frequently naff too...*just thinking about those who have to travel there* Looks like the Rescue episode aired on 28 September 1981. That date falls on a Wednesday next year, but something to think about perhaps. "The river tells no lies, though standing on the shore, the dishonest man still hears them" Oma Desala |

Been away for a few days, so just pondering the different options. As for the date, it would be nice to get as close to the date of the transmission date of "Blake" as possible. December is very busy for everyone, so maybe we could consider November? EDIT: I've got an idea. Remember that "Blake" was filmed in November 1981, so why not have the get-together on the date that filming was wrapped up on "Blake"? Edited by trevor travis on 12-07-2010 14:00 |

Good idea I think it was either the 25th or 26th that filming wrapped. |

It's the 26th November that the editing was completed (with the dubbing of the gun shots over the end titles), the studio session was before that. Dates were: Location Filming for "Blake": 13th-15th October 1981 Studio Recording For "Blake": 5th-7th November 1981 (the final fatal scene was recorded on 6th November) Editing completed: 26th November 1981 I would therefore suggest Sunday, November 6, 2011 as a good date for the event, thereby marking the 30th Anniversary of the recording of the final shootout. Alternatively if people prefer a Saturday, then we could go for November 5th. I think a weekend date would be preferable if possible. Edited by trevor travis on 12-07-2010 17:19 |

Now voted for hotel with cast (if possible) and activities. Although the hall suggested by President Solvite sounds ideal. Pres Solvite, are there any hotels nearby for those who need to stay overnight?

The nearest towns of any size are Didcot, Oxford or High Wycombe. If that helps. You could try the Good Hotel Guide online too. According to Visit Britain hotels/guest house range from 2 and a half to 5 miles away from Pyrton. http://www.ntopse...ysubtype=1

I actually come from Oxfordshire, so I checking up more on behalf of people from further afield, who would need to book a hotel. |

Just another little thought on when to have the event that was recently highlighted to me. Jacqueline Pearce spends the majority of her time in South Africa these days. If we want her there....which goes without saying for most of us! We'll have to fit in with her schedule of time in the UK.

I think a venue within walking distance of a station and/ or hotel is pretty much a must for those of us who do not drive. November or January looks good. |

So we need - facilities to host the event and the different activities, at reasonable cost - good public transport links - accommodation on site or conveniently close, at reasonable cost - restaurants and bars on site or nearby - convenient location for our guests It would make sense to consider a hotel, as we would have the con facilities, accommodation and food/drink all on site. It would also be a lot easier for those relying on public transport to have everything in the same place, and those who are coming by car could relax and have a couple of drinks. Maybe one of the mid-priced hotel chains, Holiday Inn or similar? A village hall may be cheaper, but a more remote location may mean that fewer people would be able to attend. Oxfordshire seems to be the suggested location, maybe we should consider one of the local towns? Even if the hotel is not in the town centre then I'm sure we can find one that's no more than a short bus/ taxi ride away. |

You'll need to cover fees for the cast and other guests as well as all their expenses (accommodation/food/travel).
Well now, all you had to do was ask. |

Thanks guys/ladies...all gone on the 'list' ![]() I've been doing a kind of scale room layout today...just to see how much room space would be potentially required...came out at 20 square metres or approximately 60 square feet if you work in old money. That would give enough space for a stage with 9 guests to sit on...42 audience seats...a 3m x 1m display area...2 signing tables for 4 guests...with a little room to spare for a teas/coffee table and perhaps another table for a large Liberator model (or something similar). Update *for the benefit of those reading this for the first time* Ignore my dodgy maths!! It should be 100 square metres! Actually 20 sqm equates to about 210 sqft You need to remember units are all squared, but you may have factored that in when you have done your calcs. I would say that is a bit of a tight fit, 4m x 5m aint that much room when you mark it out. 50 people in such a space seems a little tight Behold your God, Neil!! ![]() |

I could probably fit 50 people in at a squeeze, but only if they were feeling very friendly ![]() Why not call a few venues and ask what size room they would recommend for that number of people? |
