Glad others are enjoying "Straight up and Bitter". There are also two sequel pieces; "Halloween Taste" is a short piece about Blake's Halloween party and "All Foam and Ice" is a longer work that is still in progress.
I've read them all & enjoyed them quite a lot!
I am curious enough about where the story is going to be watching AO3 for updates on "All Foam and Ice".
Please, would you be kind enough to notify this thread when Ch3 & on are posted?

I quite like Frances Teagle's longish S3-4-5 Jenna series.

(Part1 is a pre-01.TWB short & not that relevant)

I recall being disappointed in a very weak end, but large parts of it are pleasingly well written & I like this smuggler-extended-family background for Jenna very much. Also I like that they go back to Sardos (implication that the Federation has got info on Sardos, & it's a race against time) to make use of that amazing replication tech. Avon mellows a bit too much for my tastes, but overall it's worth a read.

I'll contrinute. Two of my B7 favs, The Macheavelli factor and Program. I sort of started a review of Program but very much trying not give things away. I think I posted at LJ - does that mean I cant post it here?

Do you mean the story or the review? Horizon does not host stories that are already hosted on other sites, but if you have a review of a story then yes you are very welcome to repost it here. Ideally please also post a basic synopsis so that we have some idea of what the story is about, and of course a link to where members can find the story directly without having to search ff.net etc ourselves would also be of assistance.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Yes I have it, I'll try and scan it when I get chance - its not short. I suppose Lillian Shepherd wouldnt mind us sharing it privately.

Reminds me - another fav - the Quibel Abduction - one of the best Cally stories ever and a pretty good portrayal of Avon as well IMO.

Tarrant as a policeman is perfect and I nearly fell out of my chair laughing at the "being attacked by a walking toothpaste advert" line.

@ peladon - Yes, I did PM you, I've no idea why you couldn't open it. We are experiencing a number of technical issues with the website, and this may have to be added to the list of things the Supreme Commander needs to discuss with the Host Server providers (sigh).

I've replied to your reply. If you still can't open it, I'll repost the content here. The message wasn't private as such, I just didn't want to hijack the thread with a one-on-one conversation.

That made me laugh, too. The whole set up of the story is completely off the wall, and yet it works, because the author has a real feel for all the characters.

Has anyone read Lucifer: Revelation right through yet? Is it a bit of a turkey or the greatest work of fiction since Jimmy Carr's tax returns?

There's a discussion thread for Lucifer: Revelation here:
http://www.blakes...rowstart=0

Several people have posted links to their reviews. Horizon's review is here:
http://www.blakes...icle_id=55

I trust some of those will answer your question, briggsy1! This thread is for fan fic (ie not professionally published) recommendations.

They're online at Hermit
Machiavelli Factor
http://www.hermit...mp;ST=0536
Quibell Abduction
http://www.hermit...mp;ST=0509

Note that the Hermit copy of Machiavelli Factor has some bloopers:
. duplicated chapter "Waytrack" (yes, it's there twice) - I notified Hermit but they won't correct it

. there look to be 2 spots where some text got chopped or mixed up:

One spot:
he was swept under by dreamless sleep.

[ some blank lines = section break ]

d regarded the man sitting opposite her with a certain wariness.

And further down:

Dayna sat down gingerly an "I wish to see my friends," Cally repeated.
(which does not really compute, grammar-wise.......)

Someone suggested that "Dayna sat down gingerly an" is just misplaced & should be at the "d regarded" spot.

Peladon, if you have a printed copy is it different in the printed copy?

Slightly off topic, but Sue you are a girl after my own heart. I do my B7 reading/watching curled up in my recliner with my laptop and a cup of tea (biccies optional).
