Very sad news. Met him at a convention and he was a very sociable and gracious person.
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

I saw him at a Fanderson Convention - I think it was in 1990 - and he was really interesting and nice.

S.I.G. Francis, you were a major part of my childhood. "Remember, Captain Scarlet is indestructible, you are not. Do not attempt to copy any of his actions at home."

Dun Dun Dun Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun!!!!

Yes. so sad, another one of my childhood heroes has left us.
Apart from Captain Scarlet and Paul Temple, I will always remember him turning up in Eric and Ernie's shows and doing his Cary Grant impersonation.

Francis was also memorable as the hero characters in Dracula: Prince of Darkness and Rasputin, the Mad Monk - both Hammer films and both featuring Suzan Farmer of Deliverance fame, playing the wife of Francis' character in the the former film.

He also starred in Trinity Tales, a 1970s version of The Canterbury Tales by Alan Plater about a group of characters on a pilgrimage - not to Canterbury, but to Wembley! To pass the journey each has to tell a story, with a prize of fish & chips from 'Stan the Fryer' for the best one. Francis Matthews played the writer 'Eric the Prologue', based on Chaucer himself. It's a gem of a series - wonder if it's out on DVD?
