I thought I'd start a separate thread so we could discuss.

I personally would like to do this randomly- one of the reasons is that it would allow contrasts and comparisons, otherwise not available to the naked eye. Another reason is that some of us love the original crew more and others S3 and S4- so this would have a better chance to keep everyone happy.

I'd also do it once a fortnight or a month.

Time-zones are a pain, aren't they?! 9pm in the UK is 7am in Australia (I hope I got that right), but it's also 11pm in Bulgaria. Still, sacrifices should be made for the pleasure of watching with fellow fans.Mutoid

Who's interested and what do you all think?

Sounds like a good plan to me Ms Wooster Smile

And me... I've been thinking about timings and time zones but don't have an answer.

Not Friday nights - I couldn't do that. I wonder if there may be scope for a Saturday morning? That would be Saturday evening in Aus and lunchtime in Bulgaria. I couldn't do Sunday morning. But I realise Saturday mornings might be difficult for a lot of people.

I'd nominate either The Way Back - or Warlord - to start with. A hefty contrast in mood and character from when we last saw Avon and Vila is what I have in mind. (OK - very hefty for Avon Smile - it would have to include Spacefall)

Perhaps we could do double-bills where it makes sense. Like The Way Back, followed on the next day by Space Fall. And then a bit of a rest for a few weeks.Smile Or Rescue and Power; Aftermath and Powerplay (although I imagine for a while S3 wouldn't be our first choice).

I don't mind watching until midnight occasionally.

I'm waiting to see the interest for this and I have some ideas of how to proceed depending on the number of people who raise hands. It would be a lot more flexible in every aspect than the S3 re-watch, because we won't be marking any occasions.

Tuesday is a rubbish day. Nothing ever happens on a Tuesday. So would Tuesday's work for the re-watch? I think a mid-week day at best, peopel tend to have other things to do at weekends or at the start or end of the week.

I'm warming to the idea of a random re-watch (to being with, I wanted to watch seasons 1 & 2 in order and save S4 for the 30th anniversary re-watch). Can we still start with "The Way Back" though?

I'd go with Tuesday myself, if it suits people. Of course, if on a particular Tuesday some of us can't make it, we could re-arrange. That's the fun of it- we could do anything we want day- and time-wise now we don't have a schedule!Smile

Well, if two people would like to watch The Way Back, let's do that.

Hi Guys,

To add insult to injury the clocks here (eeer on Lindor) go back an hour this Sunday. So we'll be even further out. 7pm in the UK will be 4am here. (I think I worked that out right). I’m not sure I could do 4am - 5am maybe but not 4.

We could perhaps try for 8.15pm in the UK which I think makes it 5.15am here and 10.15pm in Bulgeria? What are people’s thoughts on those times?

Please note - I really like, even need, the 15 minutes past the hour cause I've worked out it takes me 14 and half minutes to crawl out of bed, put on my dressing gown, fire up the computer and DVD player, turn on the heating, go to the toilet, tie my hair back and flop on the chair infront of the computer - if we start on the hour then I have to set my clock for 4.45am which just sounds soooo much earlier than 5am.

I’d be able to do it Saturdays as Saba suggested (ie Saturday morning in the UK) but I have a feeling we might loose a few people that way. Another possibility is watching it Friday night (UK time). While I don’t fancy getting up at 5am on a Saturday morning the advantage is I could go back to bed afterward.

Anyway Tuesday night (UK time) seems to be gaining support so perhaps we can start with that and see how we go.

On the subject of episodes - Being an overly methodical person I'd prefer to watch them in order but majority rules so if others wish to do random episodes then I'll go along with the consensus. Would definitely like to start with "The Way Back" though.

Cheers

IIyeh! I just discovered this thread!
How easily one loses the control when you can not be online for a few days!

Of course I like to join in these rewatches.
But please not on Saturday or Sunday! I often have to work in the weekends.
Monday and Wednesday are always working days for me.
Tuesday and Thursday are my best options, because on these days I have incidentally work at the rewatch time.
I do not mind getting just 4 hours sleep so the time will be no problem.

Great to have response to this.Smile

I suggest we generally watch on a Tuesday, go with The Way Back first- and as for time, a question for Tyce- would it be easier or harder (because of work commitments) to start at 8:15pm UK time or 9:15pm UK time. As I said, it's fine for me to stay up until midnight- and if it adds an hour sleep for you, then I'd do the sacrifice gladly! (I hate getting up very early in the morning.Sad And am very sympathetic to people who do!)

Tuesday would be great for me, however, I cant watch and post at the same time. I find what works for me is to view the episode in advance, and then sit at my computer and watch your posts coming through, re-running the episode in my mind.
Is that sad, or what?

Lorna it's alright! You can do it any way you like as long as you enjoy it!
And then when we notice you have fun we will be happy all together!

Actually not sad at all, Lorna. On reflection, the only reason I was able to multi-task successfully was because I had watched each S3 episode in great detail in the week prior, while I was sorting out the episode's Bulgarian subtitles and their timing.
Perhaps you could watch it earlier on the day and then join us with your own comments during our actual re-watch? It should be all still fresh in your mind.Smile

Lorna, I watched the whole of B7 in December & January, so therefore all the episodes are stil fresh in the mind. So when it came to the re-watch, the episodes hadn't hit me out of the blue. It makes it much easier, because for the re-watch, you probably only see a third to a half of the actual action.

It's not sad to watch the episodes prior to the re-watch, it just makes the multi-tasking during the episode a bit easier.

Hi Ms Wooster, It would definitely be easier (and better) for me if we choose the 9.15 UK start time as this would be 6.15am here (if my calculations are correct). That's not too early to get up and gets me to work almost exactly on time (assuming I don‘t dawdle on the Horizon site afterward). I suggested the 8.15pm time only because I thought 9.15pm would be way to late in some other countries and I was considering others. (I am soooo not a morning person either - I'd happily stay in bed till lunchtime if I could). Cheers Tyce

Heavens now you tell me. I though watching it before the rewatch was considered cheating and not allowed. I haven't seen S3 episodes for ages so I didn't have much memory to go on. I might keep the idea of a sneak peak in mind for next time.

The challenge for me will be typing and watching when it's series 1 or 2. Some people are easier to look away from than others!

The challenge for me will be typing... I keep having problems with my worms Grin

A 9:15PM time would be fine for me on a Tuesday indeed most nights. (The current 7-8 time slot is problematic when you have to be a taxi service for off spring, and evening meals etc.)

Thank you all for not minding that I cant do the rewatch for real. So if it is OK, I will watch in advance and try to post while you are watching. My keyboard skills are not great, so it takes me ages to type a few sentences, so I think I will write a few notes while I am watching earlier.
