Shada

reviews & what if's surrounding it.

Saw it last nite for 1st time. I liked it & so far, reviews I've looked at don't concur. Animation has been suggested to fill in the missing scenes, I say CGI even better idea.

Shada comes off as a half baked Doctor Who story that suffers from some of the worst stuff that plagued even some of the more enjoyable stories of season 17 and that material better fits in a different kind of Douglas Adams story like Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series and the Dirk Gently novels.

The story, even had it been completed, would not have been the lost treasure that some fans seemed to think it was. It an ‘ok’ story

Hi,

I actually have Shada and Tom Baker is doing a commentary on it.

I actually think Shada was one of the best stories, and I remember watching it the first time around. It would have been so much better if there hadn't been that strike at the BBC.

By the way they did do an animation of Shada with McGann as the Doctor. I think I have it somewhere.

DW fan Ian Levine personally paid to have all the missing scenes of Shada animated and voiced by soundalike actors. He offered it to the BBC but they didn't want it.

You can see some of it here, from about 1' 20" in:

Wow, great stuff. The story is a bit similar to Ultraworld or the Borg, but ahead of both.
