UK Rewatch - C3 Volcano
trevor travis
The episode: Colin Three – Volcano (Carry On Flashing)
The date: Tuesday, July 20th, 2021
The time: 7.45pm UK time

In which the crew arrive at the planet of the wet pacifists, only to find that Servie is also there and also find out the Celestial Toymaker is a grade A nutcase and not a pacifist at all; Avon injures his arm (any volunteers to nurse it better?); Orac turns traitor once in the hands of Mori; we have the roughest-ever set of Federation officers; and it's DISCO TIME WITH THE FLASHING GROIN ROBOT! Oh, and there might be a volcano in the episode somewhere. Join us and boogie on down!!

Episode in a word: Dictator.
Character to cheer: Avon is pretty clever when he defends the Libby while injured.
Character to boo: Hower is a horrible piece of work, who controls his people through removing their aggression through surgery, and then wipes them all out when he realises he will lose his position of power. I bet he features in Rimmer’s Fascist Dictator Monthly.
Is Soolin looking lovely this week?: Yes.
Recognisable Face: Michael Gough (Hower) had a couple of prominent of guest roles in Doctor Who, including that of the Celestial Toymaker in a William Hartnell story. And was Alfred in some of the Batman movies.
Best exchange: VILA: “Well, never mind about me. But it's Tarrant you should be worried about. And not just because he's been out of contact for an hour.” CALLY: “And what about Dayna? Don't you trust her either?” VILA: “Dayna's a different case entirely.” CALLY: “Well, she's pretty, for one thing.” VILA: “Pretty? Yes, I suppose she is. I hadn't really noticed.” AVON: “We've seen you not really noticing, frequently.”

Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Going Badly

Vila's letters are written after the adventure, and therefore contain Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the episode before.

Dear Mum,

The new kids teleported down to a volcano. I didn’t. They were looking for Blake, and didn’t find him. They were also looking for an old friend of Hal Mellandby, and did find him. (The old friend, that is, we know where Hal Melanby is….).

The old friend is Hower, the leader of the Pie-Rhoans, and they probably wish they didn’t find him. It seems the Pie-Rhoans are opposed to war, well, all but one of them. And it turns out one is all it takes. While Tarrant and Dayna and Avon were away, the Feds attacked, invited by one of the Pie-Rhoans. The feds captured all of us, all of us except Zen…

At one point, Cally was gone, Tarrant was gone, Dayna was gone, Orac was gone. It was just me and Avon. And they wonder why I drink so much A&S.

Avon must have done some upgrades. Back on Horizon, Zen stated that Libby couldn’t defeat three ships at once. Today Zen fought off eight cruisers all on his own. I think he was really enjoying himself. Meanwhile, the Pie-Rhoans blew up their own planet.

What a waste. I was very disappointed to visit the Pie-Rhoans and find out there was actually no pie.

Love, Vila

Now TT you did it!
Instead of what you wrote, I read: Blake's 7 will return in… Carry On Groin Badly

Vila's letter and Huggy's cartoon completed my fits of laughter. (On Tuesdays, I have just a cup of water near the keyboard)

Phew! It is hot in this 'ere hallway (makes a change).
So a nice glass of water and a biccie or two...oh yes, and some plasters and bandages for a certain rather nice computer expert.
By the way, the costume, worn by said rather nice computer expert, was one that PC and I help the lovely Andy H (bless him) get into to.
Apart from the numerous hook and eye fastenings..it was really nice and soft to touch...just in case I have never ever mentioned it in passing!!!Grin

Good job it isn't the exploding sex episode. That would really make us hot under the collar.

One of the nastier features of this hot weather is the insects it brings out. Woke up at 5.30am to find several wasps flying around our bedroom. Spent the morning trying to find out where they were coming from. Killed upwards of 50-60 and J was stung twice (I bravely hid under the bedcovers). Blocked off some possible entry points and haven't had many since. Such is summer in the UK!
You're not sulking, I hope?
