Other roles you think Paul would've been good at
Invisible shadow
Prince Barin from Flash Gordon 1980? mebbe. One of the 3 musketeers. maybe one of the more talented photoshop perons here could do him as one of the fab Four, Paul methinks, best choice.

Replacing Mr Bean as an intelligent Felix Leiter

Spaceship Dispatcher
The Sheriff of Nottingham... oh, he already played that Grin
Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow. I bet that means something. It sounds great.

Blake's 7: Trojan Horse (s4 fanfic) - Blake's 7: Through the Needle's Eye (s2 fanfic)

sweevo
Captain Rhodes in Day of the Dead (original 1985 version), Porco Rosso.

Invisible shadow

It Takes a Thief. Old Robert Wagner show.

The Master-he would have been WAY better than Anthony Ainley!

Q- ST:TNG. John DeLancie was good, but Paul would have been better.

Severus Snape-Come on! Tell me he wouldn't have been PERFECT for that role!

Qui-Gon Jinn-okay, I'm reaching with this one, but Qui-Gon was a maverick that went against the grade, was stubborn as all get out, and pretty much went his own way. It would have been a nice break for Paul to get out of playing villains and anti-heroes.

The Master (Buffy: the Vampire Slayer)- even with all of the prosthetic makeup, he'd have been better than the dude that played Neidermeyer (Animal House)!

Or, if I'm going to go there, (and I'm going to!) Rupert Giles from B:tVS. He wasn't all that old when the series started, at least I don't think so. He would only have been in his mid fifties, and they could have made liberal use of stunt doubles.

No, not a musketeer, Cardinal Richlieu.

JannaKalderash
O_O!

That would have been PERFECT for him! Although, Paul doesn't really strike me as much of a cat person, which Richlieu was. Does anyone know if he's allergic?

I would actually pay money to see that happen. I think he'd be excellent opposite Peter Capaldi's Doctor.

Another role... Havelock Vetinari, patrician of Ankh-Morpork in the Discworld televisations.

Hmmm...I never read the Discworld series.

Is the character any good?

Funny you should mention the Discworld universe... Paul did play Captain Vimes in Guards! Guards! a number of years ago and 'aced' the part. We have always thought that Vetinari was played the best by Jeremy Irons, but also thought Charles Dance equally good.

As for the Master, we have always loved Jonathan Pryce in the spoof, Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death (they're Dalek bumps!), but again, we would also love to see Charles Dance reprise the role of the Master having a war of words against Capaldi's Doctor.
Zil: Oneness must resist the Host.

We were lucky. A British friend of ours got us into the Discworld series years ago and we have read every one of Terry Pratchett's books now. We happen to love Pratchett and his intelligent but very funny portrayal of the beings of the Discworld and Ankh-Morpork. If you happen to read Guards! Guards!, I challenge you not to hear Paul Darrow's voice. You actually may be able to look up Paul's performance a number of years ago in clips on YouTube. He's wonderful at sly comedy.

I believe he and Janet had several pet dachshunds over the years, which would probably preclude having a cat.

My eldest niece has a short haired dachshund.

That little dog is one of the most unrepentant moochers on the East Coast.

Whenever she smells food cooking, she parks her little tushie right next to my niece and looks up at her as if to say "Mommy! Mommy! Where's mine? Where's mine? Huh? Huh? Huh?"
