The episode: The Promised Land (90-minute special) The date: Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 The time: 7.45pm UK time. Yes, it's the final end of our Red Dwarf rewatches, with the feature-length special episode transmitted on Dave in early 2020. I believe it can be watched online in the UK for free here: https://uktvplay....tch-online I think you need to register, so make sure you do that well in advance of the episode. And of course, the UKTVplay version comes with ad breaks. That would extend the running time. I assume the youtube version, bought for a couple of quid is ad break free especially when watched via an ad blocker. I don't mind spending a few quid on this since having breaks throughout will put some of us way out of sync with the rest.

Hi Trevor Travis and One Spare Part. Just started. I'm watching from my recording on Dave, so able to skip through the ad breaks. I'm amazed how much the special effects leapt forward for this - I suspect Red Dwarf on Dave still has a low budget, but it's now possible to put something together like this on a small budget. |

Is it just us then? It's a shame it's not available for free outside the UK. Yes, the special effects look fabulous. I can't imagine the budget improved much, but maybe they found an even better ex-BBC employee working out of their attic, to do the CGI. The sex change scene seems a bit out of place to me. Though I do love the individual jokes of how Kryten feels qualified to perform it as he's good at folding sheets, the runway analogy, and how Cat would go with anyone. Avon: "Not enough! I've only seen this special once all the way through. I'd meant to watch it properly again... But, at least I'm getting around to it now! I don't get why the Cat race and the rebel 'insurrectionist' are dressed like young Lister? I thought Cat was so cool, with his fabulous clothing, and colour coordinated internal organs, because he'd evolved that way. Avon: "Not enough! Not nearly enough! Dammit, what weighs seventy kilos?"
