You can tell that Tanith Lee and Jacqueline Pearce were friends Smile

I'm hearing some fabulous Servalan lines in this. And that smile, when she was recognised as the president. Creepy Grin

I realised when I saw this is by Tanith Lee, that like Sarcophagus, I'll have a lot to appreciate artistically in this.

Both of Tanith Lee's episodes would qualify as a worthy Halloween episode. The fantasy elements are great too.
GARETH THOMAS: Paul is a very generous man, as a human being and as an actor. The programme couldnít have been made if we hadnít got on. Our working relationship was magic.

We really see Servalan's feelings come to the surface throughout this episode. Even when we don't know why, she looks concerned and worried.

Soolin referencing Sarcophagus!
My views are my own.

VILA: I'm entitled to my opinion.
AVON: It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.

Like Avon, she's suppressed them.

Perhaps thatís the explanation - on Vern the mysterious disease is covid19.

Hi Obsidian!

I've got stomach ache and indigestion (I think, lol, it's not something I've really had before), so I'll hopefully not have to move much while watching/typing, still it passes. Otherwise, I'm very well, thanks Smile

Sorry to hear about your indigestion. You are sure it is that! I don't want to alarm you but people have been known to mistake heart issues with indigestion etc. Get well soon.

It's stomach related, so unlikely, but I'll look up heartburn, angina, and heart issues etc after this rewatch. I surprise myself at how little I know about symptoms.
Avon: "Not enough! Not nearly enough! Dammit, what weighs seventy kilos?"
Orac: "Vila weighs seventy-three kilos, Avon."
Avon: "Vila, are you here? I need your help."

I hate those button-up cuffs on Vila's trousers. It looks like he's got his legs through the arms of a trench coat.

Hmm, didn't notice. Was too busy trying to read the labels on his shoes.

I love the sound fx in this ep, and the spooky not-quite-music.

That sounds sensible. I am a bit of a hypochondriac myself, however, I do know someone who thought they had indigestion for a few weeks and suddenly died of a heart attack. Not a nice story and a bit alarmist. Also he was only 46.

No one notices the sand around Vila like no one noticed all the goop on the Liberator.
