Some sad news
littlesue
Forty two years ago my friend Julie turned up on my doorstep with the 1977 double Xmas issue of the Radio Times. 'There's a new show starting 2nd of Jan. Look at the picture...'
And so began my lifetime love of B7...
...last night I had a phone call from her Stepdad. Julie passed away last week (cause still unknown) and he had only just found my name and phone number.
She and I had been friends for just about 50 years, we met at 6th form college, she was my bridesmaid and she was Daughter No. 1's godmother.
It's a bit of a shock as she was 6 months younger than me.
I know that she had been struggling with her health for a few years and it didn't help that the Job Centre insisted that she keep looking for work.
She was so looking forward to finally getting her state pension next February after all her money troubles (which may have contributed to her ill health).
So raise a glass for Julie, because without her I wouldn't have discovered the best fandom ever.

I'm so sorry to hear this Sue.
I'm wishing you comfort and strength.
I'll raise my glass with you to honour your friend who was so elemental for coming into B7 fandom.
Without her I would not have become a friend of yours...

Sue, I am so sorry to hear this. There can be times when one person's actions have a happy and long lasting positive effect on another's life. Friends come into our lives by choice. You both made a great impact on each other's life through your friendship. That is a wonderful thing to remember. She is with you always while you remember her. Take care, Sue and here's to your friend...

Oh Sue, I'm so sorry.
Losing a friend is awful. Wishing you comfort, and sending virtual hugs.

I will raise a glass to your Julie, together with one to my lovely friend Liz who died in April. Such sad times.

Thank you for all your kind words.
I did mention to Julie once that her name was plastered all over the Internet as the person who started it all with that Radio Times!!!

Very sorry to read your news Sue.

We should be very grateful to Julie for bringing you to the fandom in the first place, she obviously had very good taste.

Take care and thinking of you at this very sad time.

That's so sad to hear, losing a dear - especially contemporary - friend is so hard. Wishing you only happy memories of Julie, may she rest in peace.

Oh Sue - I'm so sorry. As you know it was my Mother - Linda who brought me up on Blake's 7. When she died all those years ago I had no other family members or friends that could talk to me in the same way about the series. Eventually I found my way back to fandom and the Internet was a big help. I hope the Internet gives you some small comfort too.

God Bless. Iain. xx
