Terry Pratchett - Men At Arms Date: Thursday 17th September Time: 7.45pm We're revisiting Ankh Morpork for the second Discworld novel featuring Vimes and the City Watch. The City Watch needs MEN! But what it's got includes Corporal Carrot (technicially a dwarf), Lance-constable Cuddy (really a dwarf), Lance-constable Detritus (a troll), Lance-constable Angua (a woman... most of the time) and Corporal Nobbs (disqualified from the human race for shoving)... All welcome to join us in discussion of another Discworld book! ===========================

OK, I'm here, sort of, but I'm going try to put my poultry to bed before dark. Hope to be back by 7.45. See you!

Hi M-Virn - hope your chickens are okay? I'm here, but once again haven't finished the book. About 2/3 of the way through, and LOVING it, though. ===========================

I’m here, but I finished the book ages ago, so I’ve probably forgotten bits again! |

Super speedy Stormy! I was planning to finish the book yesterday, but Life got in the way (again) - even though it's an easy and fun read. ===========================

I can go out as long as I don’t socialise, but I can go to the pub. Until 10pm, when my solitary drinking is curtailed by the hospitality curfew. I can see as many people as I don’t want to in the office, though, so that’s all right. Also, our figures (Northumberland) are lower than a lot of the country, but we’re next to Newcastle so we just got lumped in. Logical as ever. |

That makes as much sense as anything else (scratches head). I've got Jewish New Year coming up on Saturday & Sunday, and they *are* allowing synagogue services to take place under Covid regulations, ie in ours we can have up to 15 men & 10 women per service. So definitely more than 6. ===========================

Today my notice period ended, and I officially became unemployed. Went into the office to collect what was left of my stuff.

Hey! Back. The ducks think it's funny to stay up until I can't see them. Anyway, sorry it took so long. Where are we up to?

Golly, that's sad, Travisina. How long had you been there? On the New Year thing, listen to 'Kippalive', they're enough to cheer anyone up. Hi Stormy. So the naughty Geordies have to go home early? Can't see that happening without a fight. You're not sulking, I hope?

Well, I've read it, and am currently reading it aloud to my other half. Not easy with all the footnotes, changes of font etc. We're about half way.
You're not sulking, I hope?
