RIP Ennio Morricone (1928-2020)
sweevo
Composer - super-composer, even - Ennio Morricone has passed away. He lived well into his 90s. He apparently died from complications following a fractured femur.

Morricone's best known scores were for Spaghetti Westerns of the 1960s and 1970s - every Sergio Leone film, Western or not, was scored by him from A Fistful of Dollars onwards, and he even branched out to other directors with Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence and The Mercenary, and Sergio Sollima's own trilogy of Westerns starring Tomas Milian (The Big Gundown, Face to Face, Run, Man, Run!). Some of his lesser known works include his scores for 1900, (Novecento in Italian) Orca, The Mission, The Untouchables and Cinema Paradiso.

I leave you with a collection of my personal favourite compositions from this modern-day Mozart.

The world has truly lost a musical giant. I hope you enjoy these pieces I've chosen, and the world of cinema will never be the same again.

Addio, maestro. Sad

I have no words to describe his talent. He is my second favorite film score composer, just ever so slightly behind John Williams.

Ennio's scores have left a lasting mark on music history. His style was so distinctive as to be inimitable. His music pops up everywhere today from Tarantino films to beer commercials. I have a Pandora channel dedicated to Ennio.

When Ennio *finally* won his Oscar, no one applauded harder than his fellow nominee, John Williams.

RIP, Ennio.

I LOVE his music.
This is my fave version of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra - it's absolutely amazing

It has got to be The Mission for me. Full of drama and soul. There is no one like him.

That is one of the most thrilling scores I have ever heard. The chimes... the work of a genius.

That is new to me. I'll have to try and look it up. Why are you shouting? Have you been taking BRIAN BLESSED pills? Grin

It's not often a composer get an obit on here. Shows his gravitas I suppose.
