Netflix ?.

I've just posted this on Gallifrey base, so thought i'd put it here as well:
I'm quite surprised that Netflix, or a similar company haven't picked up the rights to make a brand new Blakes 7 series, i can only assume it may be down to cost, perhaps the Terry Nation estate wants to much for the rights ?, ( assuming they own them at the moment ? ), but i'd of thought B7 was ripe for a re-boot, as long as they don't go all PC about it, i think the original series was as un-PC as you can get.

I don't want "NU-BLAKE " , "NU-WHO" is bad enough.

the trouble is we live in a PC World that didnt exist in the 1970's. If B7 was remade it wouldnt be the same as we know and love. We are hoping for something that takes us back to our youthful days, it just wont happen.
You'll get a bunch of criminals steal a powerful spacecraft and fight the Federation....thats will be all we get that resembles our B7....the rest will just annoy us as we wont be able to detatch ourselves and will always be comparing it to the original....as Doctor Who fans do

Hmmm, i get your point, it would be nice if it could be brought back, but stay faithful to the original idea, but i guess that would be hard to achieve in today's, annoying PC world.

Wall 1885 has a valid point, but the simple fact is that the rights to B7 are a mess.

The Terry Nation estate owns the rights to every character that Terry created, while other writers retain the rights to their work.

This is why Bayban and Soolin do not appear in Big Finish stories. They are not Terry Nation creations. BF has the rights to Terry Natoin's creations, but not the other writers. Thus, characters created by someone other than Terry Nation cannot appear in Big Finish stories.

I would love it back but it would have to feel like the original show, I know I wouldnt get that :-(

Yeah, me too, but i'd like to see a re-boot, just to see if they could make something good out of it, the original will always be the best i suspect, as has been proven with new dr who.

I think it would be a hard sell to get the old fans (looks around the forum and waves) to accept anyone other than Gareth, Paul, Michael, and Jacs in the roles they created.

At the Audition...

Famous Actor: I'm auditioning for the role of Kerr Avon.
Casting Director: Say, 'Well, now.'
Famous Actor: "Well..."
Casting Director: NEXT!

What's with all this hate thrown at 'new Doctor Who'? The show barely changed, especially in what matters. Like the production quality has gone up but that's about it. If we could get new Blake's 7 that was anywhere near as good as 'new Doctor who' that would be awesome!

''Hate'' is a bit OTT, I've just made an observation based on my interaction of fans from when the show originally aired plus the many sites/groups I take part in

I would rather stick with just the good old B7 than have a new B7 like new Dr Who. It ain't the same and it hasn't "barely changed". But I am glad you like it, it works for you obvs. Grin

The transition to this latest season of DW was a bit jarring because... well, because there was no transition. Usually a companion or a show runner helps a new actor with the role of The Doctor, but in this most recent case, everything, and I do mean everything changed.

New Doctor with a new gender
New Companions
New Show runner
New Vision
and even new music.

It was all a bit much to take in at once.

And that would be the case with B7, almost everything would be new. It would have to be.
