Not sure if this has already been reported.

Out this month: Big Finish's audiobook version of Terry Nation's children's story Rebecca's World, read by our very own Paul Darrow. I haven't actually read Rebecca's World, but I thought it somewhat newsworthy. Can be purchased either as a disc or a digital download here.

"It was Science Fiction in the way Americans understood it: Wasn't earthbound, you had spaceships, different planets, alien races, whatever. But it was still a British show, ie it was bloody miserable."

Paul and Terry were great friends. So when an audio of Rebecca's world was mooted, Terry's daughter (Rebecca) asked Paul to narrate it. Paul did the recording over a year ago, but the issue got held up because the Nation family weren't keen on the original proposed cover design.

Well now, all you had to do was ask.

I'm certainly looking forward to hearing this at last. I actually have a copy of the book and it's a lovely story but hearing Paul reading it will make it even better.

Horizon will be selling copies of the CD - just organising the ad/prices for that so if you haven't already ordered, hold on for our special offer...

Hi,

before I try the link, what kind of space, or costs, are involved in the downloads?

BTW, did anyone catch the very funny, in a bittersweet, way Terry Pratchett Richard Dimbleby lecture. It is available on You Tube, if anyone is interested, though hopw long it will remain there is anyone's guess.

Ray.

Oh my goodness! I will certainly be getting this. Rebecca's World is one of my very favourite children's books, I did it at juinor school and very fondly remember it, especially an art class where we had to draw a picture of the characters falling into a cave full of purple feathers. The book is hard to come by, being out of print - the last copy I had I unfortunately sold on ebay in a patch of poverty!

A storytelling on child and adult level!

Wow! I got it!

Audiobook Rebecca’s World read by Paul Darrow came to me in a miraculous way!

I absolutely love that story and so very much enjoy listening to Paul's excellent read when I need to escape from the daily worries.

Though this story contains the worrisome message about the danger of deforestation, a theme I am sadly too familiar with because of the effects in the country of my origine.

I was an adult when I first got to read the book.

The child in me enjoyed the funny, horrifying and tender situations so inventively written by Terry Nation.

Even through my adult’s eye the friends Rebecca meets are delightful , the villains truly creepy.

I can imagine when you read the book as a child you will discover the hidden message when you hear/ re-read this story in your adulthood, which will make you love the book more and the admiration for Terry Nation grow to an extend!

I recommend this (audio) book to both children and adults.

Gratitude to Paul Darrow for drawing attention and sharing.

Of course I had to mention thank you people of Big Finish Productions as well in my previous post.

Does anyone know if Rebecca's World has been translated into other languishes?

And has anybody read/seen a reaction of Rebecca Nation herself to the Paul Darrow audio book somewhere?
