I don't know if you remember the Flashing Blade, but it struck me yesterday how that theme summed up Blakes 7 https://www.youtu...KYWOFo6SFM

P.S. did anyone see the version on a saturday morning tv show - not sure which - where they played each episode overdubbed with a comedy storyline. Almost as good as the original and definitely funnier.

Fabulous theme from the days when there HAD to be a fabulius theme. It's a lost art...although some of those dark detective shows have a certain type of theme (with atmospheric vocals) that I like. Trying to think of an example...did Luther do this?
Going back to the golden oldies, I really love The Tomorrow People theme by our very own Dudley Simpson.

The Flashing Blade lyrics really would have suited B7!

But as this thread has devoloped into a My Favourite TV Tunes discussion, I’d like to share some of my favourites with you, which you won’t have heard of before!

The Flashing Blade reminded me a little of Der Kurier der Kaiserin (The Courier of the Empress, i.e. Maria-Theresia of Austria), li’l Hugbot favourite TV series (which turned out to be a sad disappointment when I tried to rewatch it as an adult). The title theme still makes the eyes of virtually every German of my generation light up!

The Courier music was composed by none other than Peter Thomas who was also responsible for the the soundtrack of Raumpatrouille. The title theme has cult status over here; it was even performed at the official reopening of the Brandenburg Gate after reunification!

Speaking of cult TV themes, I also have to mention the German theme for Captain Future by Christian Bruhn. The Japanese producers of this show put dialogue, sound effects and music on one single audio track, so that every dubbed version also got its very own music. Which is not a bad thing considering the cheesy original Japanese theme! (The French version doesn’t sound bad but has some stupid lyrics: ‘Captaine Flame, tu n’est pas de notre galaxie.’ Well, he was born on Earth and raised on the Moon!) At 1:45, you will also see where JMS got the idea for the physically impossible ray geometry of Excalibur's main guns in Crusade!

There is also the sadly forgotten but epic title theme of a mini series about Friedrich von der Trenck. Don’t you just love the transition from the battleground to the ballroom?
