Strangely enough the Doomwatch movie was shown on Horror Channel last Sunday. I'm sure I spotted Fulham Gas Works as one of the locations they used for filming in too.

I bagged a copy in WH Smith this afternoon. A lot of the shows mentioned Im not familiar with, so this might be educational readingSmile

Managed to get a copy yesterday at WH Smiths at Euston Station (having previously been unsuccessful at branches of Smiths in my home town and at Kings Cross). Haven't started reading yet, but at a glance it seems chock full of goodies!

In the box-out on p.73, Paul says (or rather, agrees with Mary Ridge saying) that Avon's big blaster rifle is all out of ammunition at the end of the episode. Has that ever been stated anywhere before? I don't recall hearing it, but perhaps I've forgotten.

All I can recall from all those years ago is that Uncle Vere saying (in a magazine article or something along those lines) is that you should listen to the gunshots and that, also, apart from Blake, there was no blood...........

I think that was Mary Ridge in a B7 Monthly interview.

In fact, PDs account that it was all very much spur-of-the-moment seems at odds with the level of planning by Mary Ridge that we've learnt about elsewhere.

It was a long time ago though, and memories fade. I suppose it could even be that both accounts were true; perhaps PD was recalling input at an early stage and MR's detailed work came out of that.

The Mary Ridge article is in issue no10. I've re-read it, but can find no reference to Avon's gun being out of ammo. Instead she says, "The clue to what happened is on the soundtrack. The first shot fired was from Avon's gun. The next three shots were from Federation guns - then the next two were from Avon's again."

Exactly!
